He walked into the classroom and I hated him immediately
The first time he kissed me on the cheek
I told him
You missed

He never stopped kissing me

This wasn’t born yesterday
He says my name like an oath
Murmurs for me to take him to the bedroom

Open your mouth
I want to amen
amen
amen
into it

If I die, burn my body and bury me in the palace grounds
I want no morgues
Don’t identify my body

You know who I am

Take my corpse to a secluded place
Make a ceremonial fire
And set me ablaze

Make me a viking boat fit for a king and push me out into the river
Beating your chests
Burn me in a sacred forest grove on a stake like the most powerful priestess

Smuggle my body to Egypt and place me in a pyramid
In the biggest crypt
A tomb fit for Cleopatra

I choose how I live, I choose how I die

Boundaries work when we enforce them.

That’s a hard truth, but it’s also an empowering one, because it puts the power back in your hands.

Save this for the next time you’re wondering why someone “didn’t respect your boundary.”
