Stony Creek Rescue Fire Co. 5 has donated a scrapbook created by Kathleen DaRos about the Eddie Ramos & the Floors and More Fire. The scrapbook has newspaper clippings and ephemera, 1996-1998. The scrapbook documents an important event in Branford and firefighting history.

Jack Doyle stopped by today and we looked at Stony Creek Drum Corps and Seaside Hall photographs. This is one of the earliest Drum Corps photographs by Christy donated by Rose Russell Edwards.

A few weeks ago I joined Bill Chapin at 26 School Street, home to the Branford Land Trust, which is currently undergoing a renovation.

The buidlings comprise of an 1865 school house, a 1901 Fire House, and a structure between them.

I met with Bill today so we could record an oral history and he talked me through the the details of rehabilitating the buildings.

It's exciting to see these historical buildings get a second life!

Join us at the Keyes Gallery in Stony Creek CT, on Saturday 12 September 2026. Together, we will make a bit of art, hear some stories, and retrace the steps of the infamous Land Yacht Parade from Jeff’s art studio (next to the library) to the Stony Creek Market (next to the purple house where it all began) to share more tales over coffee.

We are also planning an event in New Haven, which will hopefully be on Thursday afternoon, 10 September 2026. Venue TBC, perhaps at ECA. Check @causticmerriment on Instagram or facebook for the latest details.
