A Novi man is recovering in the hospital after an Eastern Massasauga rattlesnake bit him near a boat launch at Proud Lake Recreation Area in Commerce Township Tuesday afternoon.

The Eastern Massasauga is Michigan’s only venomous snake. While 30 to 40 percent of their bites don’t inject venom, Curylo said he could tell this one did.

“I asked him ‘do you feel any tingling’ and he said ‘oh yeah.’ I’m like OK, it’s definitely not a dry bite, you’ve got some venom in you, you need to sit down stay calm,” Curylo said. by @wxyzdetroit

The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority is moving forward with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday for the Gordie Howe International Bridge — but only on the Canadian side.

@tonygeftos spoke with Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens, who plans to attend the ceremony. Dilkens acknowledged the ceremony falls short of what both sides had hoped for.

“Anyone who lives in Michigan or anyone who lives in Ontario understands the importance of having smooth and efficient border crossings because that border crossing, in many cases, puts bread on the table for a lot of families,” the mayor said. by @wxyzdetroit
