My second book “Psych Mike Says” details some of the experiences from a character named Psych Mike whom was introduced in my first book “Somersaults on Mattresses.”

This poem captures a moment Psych Mike recalls having with his father after sharing how he didn’t trust anyone. In it there’s a dark history and a surprising start to a love story.

This past Friday was the 10th #FourFridays. I’m grateful for this journey, and what has really been eye opening for me is that I’ve learned more not chasing perfection.

When I first came up with the idea, I had been telling myself, I need the right camera, I have to buy one of those mics people use in their videos, the poems have to be this and that, etc.

After reflecting on things that I’ve learned from those such as Dr. Eric Thomas, Julius B. Anthony, and others, it became clearer to me that I just needed to start. If I had spent all that time trying to make it “perfect” I wouldn’t have gained what I have in these past 10 weeks, because I’d still be working on the first one.

In addition to that, even when you think you’ve produced the perfect thing, you still end up seeing something you could have done better or differently.

So, what are you waiting for? Get started today!
