With only a week left before we transition from ‘Pictorialism in the Buff’ to ‘Narratives in the Nude’ a new piece has graced the gallery walls. This stunning image taken by A.G.Wallace was selected due to its soft elegance and timeless grace. We look forward to this piece, and others, finding their new home. The subtle silver tones, the texture of the paper, and the presence of an original print. This exhibit is a must see. We look forward to seeing you at the gallery before this phase of the exhibit closes on November 7th. A heartfelt thank you to Isabella for lending her voice to one of our most cherished works on the walls right now: a vintage gelatin silver print by Albert Arthur Allen. 🖤 Soft light. Quiet grace. The human form, honored as art nearly a century ago. This treasure is part of Pictorialism in the Buff, the opening phase of Figure and Form: Vintage Nude Photography from the 1920s to 1950s, here at Wynter Gallery in Lambertville, NJ. Some photographs are meant to be seen in person. The subtle silver tones, the texture of the paper, the embossed Alo in the corner, and the presence of an original vintage print can’t be fully captured on a screen. This one deserves to be experienced up close, just as the artist intended. Phase one of Figure and Form closes November 7, and we’d love to welcome you before it does. Stop by, take your time, and let these timeless images speak to you. We’ll see you in the gallery this weekend. ✨ Friday 12-6pm Saturday 12-5pm New Sunday hours 12-4pm #wyntergallery #lambertville #vintagephotography #photographygallery #nudephotography by @wynter.gallery

While sharing work from his series, Americans, @steveprezant walked us through his path into documentary photography this past Saturday at the gallery and one thread stood out. Before the documentary projects, there were decades in the commercial world. Deadlines, briefs, clients, and thousands of frames shot under pressure. It would be easy to see that chapter as separate from his art. But that commercial work trained his eye. It taught him to read a room quickly, to anticipate the moment before it happened, and to notice the small human details most people walk past. The discipline of one world became the instinct of the other. I've sat with Steve here in town on a bench outside @lambertvilletrading I've seen him grab his camera mid-conversation to quickly capture one fleeting frame of someone passing by - something I hadn't even noticed - and then seen that powerful image the next time we met. His talk on Saturday hammered home a few key ideas I'd like to share for those who wanted to join us but couldn't make it: 1) Craft built in one field rarely stays there. It follows you. 2) The moments that matter are usually quiet, not obvious. 3) A long career isn't a straight line. It's a slow sharpening of how you see. 4) Have a voice. Use it. No matter which medium you choose. It's your right. This is true well beyond photography. Whether you write, build, design, lead, or teach, the medium changes. The responsibility to say something honest does not. We also talked about what's next - new projects and books taking shape and fresh ideas on the horizon. In a gesture we won't forget, Steve gifted everyone who came a copy of his first book. Big thanks to Steve and everyone who joined us and made the afternoon feel as special as it was. And thank you @straitonphotos, for capturing the event so beautifully. #DocumentaryPhotography #lambertville #WynterGallery #photogallery #artisttalk #CreativeCareers #photography by @wynter.gallery
What a special Saturday. 🖤 We gathered a small, intimate group here at the gallery for an afternoon with documentary photographer Steve Prezant — and it felt more like a conversation among friends than an artist talk. @steveprezant Steve walked us through his journey into documentary work, and how decades in the commercial world quietly trained his eye for the moments that matter. We talked about what’s next for him, the projects taking shape, and the new things on the horizon. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this one feel like something rare. @straitonphotos Thank you for capturing the afternoon so perfectly. #documentaryphotography #artisttalk #WynterGallery #StevePrezant #photography by @wynter.gallery
