Pound the Pavement 5K Color Fun Run for Cancer advocacy... QOL had a literal blast participating at our color station. We picked over some litter at davenport park across the street we colored over 500 Participants handed out 14 pizzas to the local unhoused population provided by @thepurpleirisfoundation and hit the Kenduskeag trail for a walk thru and clean up bangor has so much to offer if you just know where to look
Cancer advocacy is a subject that touches home. When i was in high school a good friend of mine passed away from leukemia we went from house parties to a pediatric unit i saw his quality of life drop thru the floor as time passed but he started to recover and things were looking good his parents just got him a car he was back out at social events... someone puts a phone in my face with a text that said Alen just passed i just kept reading it over and over my mind couldn't make sense of it alen and his family were bosnian refugees and they welcomed me into their home and into their family just like every refugee or immigrant ive ever met has done... ive sat on the other side of a door where my friend is battling for their life ive seen their face swell up and change from the chemo ive seen a father bury his son this is the pain cancer brings just to the friends and family. We need fair access to Healthcare for all nobody should be excluded from receiving medical treatment because of affordability. Most of us will be disabled or in need of major medical intervention at some point in our lives. We shouldnt be dying or going broke because of a medical diagnosis taken in Bangor, Maine by @wytheworst

Next Saturday, 8/29 is Fake Smile’s first ever Bangor show and it’s at the UU Church!

This one means a lot to us. We’re incredibly proud of @wytheworst and all the work he’s doing at @npsanctuary, including the Bangor City Clean Ups every Sunday.

The show is part of a much bigger day for International Overdose Awareness Day, with a community resource fair happening throughout the day. The night ends with this benefit show, with all proceeds going toward Needlepoint Sanctuary’s efforts to fund a new building. taken in Bangor, Maine by @wytheworst
