Let’s unwrap last night brothas and sistas, because we got to experience the energy of @x.presslive ❎

Whānau, you lot love a good boogie, and last night was epic. It was beautiful seeing everyone locked into their own little world, doing their thing. There are so many micro-moments that happen in a present crowd and that’s what makes this scene so special.

The shenanigans took place at @the.mud.bar , the neighbour of the ‘nearly’ closed and will be deeply missed @hide.club . A lot of you Y2K babies probably had your first proper taste of the EDM scene there or at @fluxx.capacitor , so it’ll always hold a special place in the hearts of many.

On that note, I definitely get the feeling that The Mud will be carrying that torch forward. The crowd, the energy, and the demographic all feel very familiar. If you’re fresh to the scene, keen on some bass, and not quite sure where the hotspots around town are yet, The Mud is an excellent place to start, much in the same way Hide was for so many of us.

A quick shout-out to the lighting operator too. Mint job, brother. In my opinion, lighting is the second most important part of any event (music comes first, obviously). You’re setting the visual mood. Last night you could feel the bass, but you could see it too, and that added a whole extra layer to the experience. Ka pai.

I know we were originally meant to be boogieing outside with a beautiful courtyard setup, but honestly, being tucked away inside created a much more intimate atmosphere. That said, I am already looking forward to a summer session out there with tequila in one hand, a menthol 8 in the other, on a still and balmy 23°C evening.

All in all, we had an absolute blast. Massive appreciation to everyone who helped make it happen. Here’s to the organisers, the venue, the DJs, the crew behind the scenes, and most importantly, you lot on the dancefloor. The energy you bring is what makes these nights what they are.
