OYOFÉ Vol. 10 🇪🇸🖤
Our 1st overseas competition & festival as a crew.

When we decided to take this leap, it was never just abt chasing a ranking. It was abt putting ourselves in an environment that would stretch us, sharpen us & show us where we truly stand. How much further could we still push ourselves as dancers?

A few days after the comp, my mentor, @misslulucreates, asked where I thought we’d place out of the 15 crews. 😂 I honestly said, “Maybe around 10th?”

After watching the level of the other crews, esp the champions, simply sharing the stage w them alr felt like a win. So hearing we placed 5th genuinely caught me by surprise.

More than the result, I was reminded why experiences like these matter. Being around dancers I admire & the convos we had made one thing clear. There’s no magic formula. Just keep showing up, keep learning & putting in the work because you LOVE it. Consistency is everything!! 🧱🫀🙌

To Lorraine, Nat, Audrey, Izzat, Louis & Jansen, thanks for the sacrifices made, the commitment & trust in this journey, giving everything you can 💜

To the rest of the crew who worked BTS, thank YOU for making this trip possible. We may have been the seven on stage, but this belonged to the whole crew. 🫶

To THE KAMPUNG spirit IN ACTION, who supported our fundraisers, thank you!! Every bit of support gave us the coursge to dream a lil bigger. 🥹 @akwaaba.films truly helped us to share the heart behind this community w your amazing documentary 🎥🎞️

To our judges, Olu, Cori & Kenan, thank you for your time & expertise 🙏 And @enfantdesbois & @misslulucreates for creating Choreo Monsterz!! I cherish this so much as a platform that continues to challenge & inspire dancers who love African dance. 🌍

Thanks @alifaircho for the incredible mix & always steady to try random ideas. 😂

Most importantly, medaase to my Shifu, @thebest_nanabawuah. The constant guidance, honesty & the values you continued to pour into me. XieXieNi 🫶

We r leaving Spain w so much more than a placing. New friendships, new lessons & an even bigger hunger to keep learning. Thank you @oyofe_official 🫶

This is only 1 milestone but more stories to unfold. 💜

Doing a little throwback 😉⏳

We had the pleasure of participating in this year’s Oyofe Dance Festival. Oyofe Festival is a celebration of African dance and culture, and for their 10th edition, they brought together dance styles from Gabon, Cameroon, and Ivory Coast!

We were so excited and privileged to learn from the different styles, witness incredible performances and battles, and share this experience with everyone.

Thank you, Oyofe @oyofe_official , for organizing such a beautiful celebration and representation of African culture. What a sight to behold!

Enjoy this lil’ round up of us trying (…and really trying in some videos 🤪) all the new styles we got to learn!
