POSTS STORIES REELS
Back in 2024 I wrote a post about how it felt being a newly minted 40-something. I touched on how I feel more happy and confident with who I am now than I have at any other point in my life. I feel young and vibrant and at peace with myself. I made a list about what feels different in this decade including loving my body, not doubting my self worth or subjecting myself to toxic relationships. Now at 43, I can say all of those things still ring true - and then some! This year for my birthday I traveled to Phoenix, AZ to be photographed by a photographer who's work inspires me (@rachelsolomonphoto). I wanted to document this chapter in my life and solidify this feeling in a beautiful tangible form that I will be able to look back on for decades, point to and say, "look at what a badass I was." I am so excited to be launching a similar portrait experience at my studio here in Alameda. Women of all ages and at all chapters of their lives should feel empowered to celebrate who they are right now. Not "maybe someday," not "next year," not "once I've lost the weight" - NOW. If this resonates with you and you'd like to explore booking an EMPOWERMENT PORTRAIT EXPERIENCE, send me a DM. I'd love to connect. by @xan_heller
A little teaser of something I’ve been working months on - coming soon… 🫶🏻 by @xan_heller
Tomorrow’s the big day!!! Our amazing Finny turns 8! This is always my favorite reel to make each year as we look back on eight wonderful years with our sweet boy. I am so thankful to have these portraits from years gone by that really capture his growth and transformation into the kind and wonderful human he is today and will continue to become. by @xan_heller
Happy Halloween from The Roadrunner and a family of Wile E. Coyotes! FUN FACT: Wile’s middle name is Ethelbert. by @xan_heller
When your baby’s face seems to change DAILY, it’s always a good time to document the myriad of expressions so you’ll never forget that gummy grin, the constant drool, the tooth that finally broke through, the lower lip quiver, the smile that comes from a deep belly laugh - all of the little pieces that make them who they are. by @xan_heller
I figured this deserved a permanent spot on the grid. There is just something about a gummy grin that I just HAVE to photograph. by @xan_heller
Fun & elevated new branding portraits for Missy! After coming in for an Empowerment Session last year, Missy needed updated portraits for her hair styling business that matched her fun and energetic attitude. Makeup: @hairandmakeup.bychelsey Hair: @missy_theige by @xan_heller
Andrea booked an Empowerment Portrait Experience to celebrate and memorialize an exciting milestone in her career. She never wanted to forget the feeling of success and all her hard work paying off. Women come into The Empowerment Portrait Experience for a myriad of reasons. The common thread is always the desire to look inward and honor where you are - now, in this moment - and to walk away with a tangible reminder of that feeling Now booking The Empowerment Portrait Experience for women who are ready to reclaim who they are beyond the titles they carry – and feel empowered by the woman they are becoming. by @xan_heller
Christine, 42: “When we sat down to look at the portraits, I almost didn’t recognize myself. But then I looked again and exclaimed, ‘Oh, there she is!’ This experience gave me something I didn’t realize I needed: the chance to feel seen, celebrated, and authentically myself. What a gift. I wish every woman had the chance to see herself through Xan‘s lens.” Now booking The Empowerment Portrait Experience for women who are ready to reclaim who they are beyond the titles they carry – and feel empowered by the woman they are becoming. by @xan_heller
Why I struggle with May...and what I’m doing about it. Please join me on Thursday, May 28th at 7:00pm at Books, Inc. in the Marina (2251 Chestnut St) for a night of optimism with my dear friend Dr. Deepika Chopra - The Optimism Doctor ™. She will be in conversation with an other amazing human I know, Schuyler Hudak Prionas, Editor-In-Chief of the San Francisco Examiner and the Nob Hill Gazette, followed by a Q&A and book signing. This book has been an incredible resource in helping me seek out and harness optimism during a time of the year that historically is very dark. You can find the link in bio for event details. If you’re local in the Bay Area, I would love to see you there. by @xan_heller

The Triple H turns six today. When asked to describe his brother, Finny said, “Hugo is funny, kind, creative, and adventurous.” When asked to describe his son, Dan answered, “When life opens a door, Hugo says yes - unless it’s a vegetable.” We love you, our amazing Hugo Harold Heller. Happy birthday. by @xan_heller
