Happy 2 Years Anthony. 💟
Being with you has taught me patience, love, how to not be as stubborn as I usually am, acceptance, communication, privacy, choosing what in life is going to be best, and many more life lessons. I love how we love each other. I love waking up and seeing you every morning in the sunlight. I love discussing how different we are from each other and yet we work out so well. I love going on adventures with you near and far. I love talking about how we want our future to be - our future house, future color schemes, future animals we will own, future conversations and life events, and so much more. I love holding your hand when we drive anywhere together. I love when you make fun of my music taste. I love doom scrolling on TikTok with you at midnight when we realize we both need to go to bed. I love taking care of you when you’re not feeling the best. I love pushing you to be more extroverted and you pushing me to realize when I may be too much. I still kind of love that you don’t have social media. I love going to Target trips together and you let me buy into consumerism. I love memorizing plants with you and me trying to prove to you I can remember their names. I love late nights playing video games with you that push us to communicate and not get frustrated. I love that our relationship can be private - not everyone needs to know everything. I love making sure you hydrate all the time. I love that we make each other feel confident, make each other feel attractive, and make sure we believe in love every day. Loving you these past 2 years has been so easy. Wait. Does this mean we are going to World Class?

This past weekend was a fever dream, a struggle with my sleep schedule, lots of tears that are hard to get out due to my anxiety medication, and gallons of love.

Homage, my dream team, you have my complete heart. Every performer on the floor has captured me in some time of way - whether over time that be a giggle, a heart to heart, a correction, a compliment, or just pure love. The reason I keep running back to you all is because you give me purpose. You give me purpose to my life! I have NEVER had a feeling of not wanting to attend rehearsal. I get so excited to see you divas every weekend. That’s why I am devoted to you. I am devoted to every single member. I told you after the finals run, the banquet, and I’m going to repeat it now. All 28 of you show your hearts! You show your magnificent souls, beautiful minds, and show why we do this activity! That last finals run had me blubbering like a baby! I hope you have a photogenic memory of this entire weekend because these moments are going to stay with you for the rest of your lives.

On a personal level, I stay with Homage because it reminds me of my time with Zydeco Winterguard. These performers and entire organization remind me of the goals and love I had for Colorguard when I was a teenager and young adult. When I look on the floor and see these kids laughing, making fools of themselves, working hard every rep, and hugging each other and leaning on each other - that’s all I ever wanted for them. I wanted to feel the love I had when I was on the floor. I’m so happy to give back to you and love on you all. It’s never about being the “cool kids” or trying to fit in. It’s about making sure everyone is included! THAT’S THE COOL THING!

I’ll miss this season every waking day. I hope you all have learned life lessons through all of us. Don’t take life too seriously. Have fun. Smile and LOVE one another endlessly. Accept people for their weirdness and quirks. I know you all have walked away from this experience with such a full & happy heart.
