Zojoji Temple used to have 48 buildings and today just a few remain.

As Tokyo expanded and modernised, most of them disappeared and later the Tokyo Tower rose right behind it

So this photo isn’t just a “cool contrast”. It’s literally history layered in one frame. The temple was massive first then the tower came after.

Tokyo, Japan. June 2025.

Fushimi Inari has over 10.000 torii, but most of them aren’t as old as the shrine itself. They’re constantly donated by people and companies who want their wish to stay alive in the future.

Repetition doesn’t exhaust. Repetition builds. Repetition gives meaning.
When the core unit is strong, repetition doesn’t kill the magic, it multiplies it.

December 2022.

The journey to Yosemite was worth every winding road and rainy morning. The towering trees and misty mountains were the perfect epic backdrop to admire El Capitan.

🇩🇪 The Berlin Television Tower (Fernsehturm), built in 1969, was for years the pride of the GDR, a tower built to show the superiority of communism over capitalism. The tower, at 368 meters high, is the tallest structure in Germany.
