Open House for @pitchmusicandarts was a house without a door. Visitors broke in through the windows to access the festival’s communal living room for a slice of home. During the festival, it offered a space for people to appropriate. So, whether they were in the mood to sleep, dance, or just relax - they could find a window, claim their spot, and enjoy the space!

Earlier this year, I assisted @mimosaechard with character and world creation for the video game exhibited as part of her current show Sporal at Palais de Tokyo.

‘The exhibition Sporal represents a new instalment in the research project that Mimosa Echard began in 2019 whilst a resident at the Villa Kujoyama (Kyoto), which centres on the idea that myxomycetes, unicellular organisms that are at the intersection of the animal, plant and fungi kingdoms, may be endowed with a form of memory. It is structured around the first video game by the artist, created in collaboration with developer Andréa Sardin and artist Aodhan Madden. The game invites visitors to explore the cavities of an organism in a perpetual state of transformation, inspired by the life cycle of the myxomycete. A character with an ambiguous identity makes their way through an ambiguous, dreamlike universe evolving with each encounter and in reaction to the mutating materials that surround them. With each enigma solved and each exchange of fluidst, the character unlocks ‘sexual types’ like those released by myxomycetes, which can deploy up to 720 different kinds.’

The video game is available now to download from www.sporal.net taken in Palais de Tokyo by @xavmad

Decay of natural latex sheets from Resonance in Liminal Matters, shown at @odaysfestival .Through interaction with attendees, exposure to environmental elements and the vibrations of sound, the natural latex sheets split and degraded over the three days. Evolving with the music festival each day, the structure was not static, changing its form and porosity, while becoming a physical record of the activities and conditions on site. taken in Copenhagen, Dennmark by @xavmad

Resonance in Liminal Matters is an interactive pavilion that transforms music into textured, light-reactive surfaces, translating ephemeral sound into spatial, tactile experiences. Using generative design tools, music is converted into 3D-printed molds for casting biodegradable latex skins.

Exhibited at @odaysfestival , the result is a luminous structure that invites reflection, rest, and connection through shifting silhouettes and shared encounters. Built from modular, reusable components, the pavilion prioritises circular design and adaptability, evolving with each new context. It functions not as a final form, but as an ongoing exploration of how sound, material, time and architecture can resonate together.

Thank you to the team at @odaysfestival and @netcompany for making this possible! taken in Copenhagen, Dennmark by @xavmad

NOW OPEN!

Excited to launch 7:37 @7.37.pm__ , a new studio by Katja Banovic and Xavier Madden.

———

7:37 is a design studio based between Paris and Pula, working at the intersection of architecture, art, culture, design, and fashion. Our practice balances the digital and physical with a sharp mix of speculation and function—one foot in the future, the other firmly on the ground. From spaces to objects, fleeting moments to lasting forms, our aim is to invite interaction, shaping how we move, gather, and experience the world around us. by @xavmad

Exhibition Design for Bacteria Babies at Kontejner, Zagreb. The exhibition features bacteria cellulose sheets, each with unique qualities, carefully suspended in the air to highlight their distinct textures, colours, and translucency. Six pairs of hanging LED lights are strategically placed, allowing visitors to intimately inspect the sheets up close. A table at the centre of the installation offers additional context, displaying fragments from the production process and providing access to a digital archive, all surrounded by the ethereal sheets of bacteria.

Open House was positioned in the middle of the @pitchmusicandarts arena, making it a natural stop between stages. It offered festival-goers a chance to regroup with friends or take a breather amidst all the excitement, allowing people to chill and recharge.

Leglo - Three is a crowd but an unspecified amount is a party.

Leglo focuses on the relationship between humans and bacteria, showcasing how they can collaborate with simple ingredients to cultivate the biomaterial- bacteria cellulose. The installation, which is designed as a nest - or leglo in Croatian, brings together these actors within close proximity, creating interdependent relationships between the two and making their interactions tangible through the growth of a bacteria cellulose sheet. by @xavmad
