We did it! More than 120 incoming HBCU students representing more than 30 HBCUs joined us last week at Kenwood Academy High School for the inaugural Chicago HBCU Trunk Party, hosted by @xceleader’s Vote HBCU program and @theonyximpact.

As we celebrated the incoming HBCU class of 2030, we educated them on what it meant to be from Chicago and traveling to the South and new communities for college. The laws change, the local issues change and the new environment brings new opportunities young people to lead.

Our student hosts and graduating seniors Mya (@luvmya_25) and Sonse’rae (@iheartraeskii) brought the energy and excitement. Thank you for your dedication to this event.

Thank you to every HBCU alumni who volunteered, donated and prepared trunks and other giveaway items for our students. We raised over $3,500 from alumni, students and friends all across the country to support our incoming students. Thank you to @southwestair, @strugglebeardbakery, @lime, @xox.daija, @danicahhhhh and @soundsaboutangela for adding to our giveaway items!

This event let us know that community is here — we just need the students to know where to find us! #HBCU #ChicagoHBCUTrunkParty #2030

And, yes, see you all next year! ❤️

This is how we’re building community. Thank you to the HBCU alumni-owned tea company @justaddhoney for partnering with Xceleader’s Vote HBCU program and @theonyximpact for our HBCU on the Beltline event. Merging nonpartisan civic engagement and HBCU culture is what we do. Last week brought so much excitement and joy ahead of the upcoming 2026 midterms.

Thank you to our student and alumni leads for planning this event. We couldn’t do this work without you: @khadiiibae_, @aniyanw, @rokitaspencer and @scholarworld.

HBCU alumni, know that @justaddhoney would love to have you. @1925society 💛🖤

Let’s continue to build with our ATL HBCU family. ☕️🫖 #BuildTheBloc

Thank you, @shot.byharris, for capturing this moment. by @xceleader

Earlier this month, our Vote HBCU fellows hosted their first HBCU social hour, bringing together HBCU students interning in DC for the summer. It was an opportunity to celebrate our new class of fellows but also to #BuildTheBloc ahead of the upcoming midterm election. During the event, we had over 15 HBCUs represented and look forward to hosting it again next year.

Thank you to our partners @theonyximpact, @headcountorg and @allaboveall for making this event possible.

As we #BuildTheBloc, we’re building community across the country, meeting HBCU students where they are at this summer. Earlier this month, Xceleader’s Vote HBCU program and its 2026 fellows hosted a social hour, inviting HBCU interns across the DMV to meet, connect and build together.

Last week, Xceleader’s Vote HBCU program hosted its 2026 Leadership and Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C., inviting its new cohort of fellows to join a weekend of learning, networking and leadership development sessions.

The fellows represent HBCUs located in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas and Washington, D.C. This year’s program is in partnership with @headcountorg and @unite_inc_.

Thank you to our speakers for helping to deepen our students knowledge on policy, organizing and understanding the impact of disinformation on our communities: Kaylan Tanner (@kaayalexx), Tiffany Loftin (@tiffanydloftin) and Dr. Christine McWhorther (@dr.christinemcwhorter).

Thank you for hosting us, @allaboveall!

HBCU Class of 2030, this is for you! Xceleader’s Vote HBCU program is hosting its very first event in Chicago — so what better way to start by celebrating Chicago students with a Trunk Party. We’re excited to invite incoming and current HBCU students, HBCU alumni and community members to our event next Friday, July 31, held at @broncosociety!

The event is hosted by two Chicago natives currently enrolled at Louisiana HBCUs: Dillard University (@dillarduniversity) student and KAHS Bronco Sonse’rae Fuery (@iheartraeskii) and Xavier University of Louisiana (@xula1925) student and current @xulasga President Mya Booth (@luvmya_25), also a Brooks alum!

HBCU alumni chapters and community organizations are welcomed to join us! See you soon!

Last week, HBCU students from Xceleader’s Vote HBCU program were represented on the @globalblackeconomicforum main stage during the 2026 @essencefest to share their perspectives on America 250 and how HBCU students can shape the future.

On the panel, Dillard University (@dillarduniversity) student Roderick Morning-Trice (@roderick.004) and recent Xavier University of Louisiana (@xula1925) alumna Christina Anderson (@cdovii) joined in conversation with @mslatoshabrown, @angelarye, @nikolehannahjones and Domario Soloman-Simmons.

Thank you, GBEF, for including young people in this conversation. #BuildTheBlock by @xceleader

Ahead of the midterms, a narrative on Gen-Z voters and how they show up in November is being told without young people at the forefront. This year, Xceleader’s Vote HBCU program is collaborating with @headcountorg and @unite_inc_ to educate, mobilize and empower 50 HBCU students as fellows and ambassadors across 50 campuses to show the country how they lead, driving national conversations on local, state and federal issues impacting their everyday lives.

Today, we are proud to present our 2026 Vote HBCU Fellows. #VH26 #VoteHBCU #GenZ by @xceleader

Xceleader is excited to be joining the Global Black Economic Forum stage at the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture on Saturday, July 4. The panel will be held in the Convention Center’s Great Hall.

HBCU students and alumni, see you soon! #ESSENCE by @xceleader

To every Texas-born, raised and educated Black person in this country, especially those who are forever stitched to the legacy of Texas Historically Black Colleges and Universities, today was made in your honor. These institutions carry on the legacy of formerly enslaved Texans — giving their descendants the chance to go places beyond their wildest dreams. #HappyJuneteenth

This Pride Month, Xceleader honors the LGBTQ+ HBCU students and alumni whose advocacy shaped campuses, communities, and the leaders who came after them. Your impact will forever be felt on our campuses. 🏳️‍🌈

For today’s student leaders, use your platform to expand opportunities for all students, ensuring that your campus is a safe space to educate, organize and for others to express themselves freely.

With love,
