Sileni (US) is playing in Stockport! An artist whose music has been a key influence on the whole microfunk movement finally joins us for an exclusive dj set at BRUK on Sunday 10th May. With releases on some of the most iconic leftfield dnb & electronica labels, including Planet Mu, Offshore and Subtle Audio, Chris Sileni has been known since the early 2000s for his skittering percussion, fractured breaks and experimental sound design, alongside a distinct minimalism that later evolved into his Xen Chron alias. XEN CHRON is a longtime producer and DJ mostly from Boston, working in the grey area between techno, UK bass, breakbeat, drum’n’bass, IDM, acid, and electro. As a DJ, he has opened for Regis, Photek, Piezo, Barker, Pictureplane, Mor Elian, JK Flesh, and other peers in the US. He has appeared on Rinse FM (Hessle Audio, Fever AM) as well as 1020 Radio, Jungletrain, and Bleep Radio. His DJ sets are versatile ranging from wonky bouncy techno, to experimental club and UK bass, to psychedelic hard techno and deep jungle/d’n’b. As a producer, this same variety is reflected in releases on labels like Fever AM, Different Circles, Unknown Untitled, and EPs self-released on Bandcamp for example. His tracks have been played worldwide at clubs and festivals by: Blawan, Ben UFO, Surgeon, Rhyw, Lag, Djrum, NVST, Laksa, Tammo Hesselink, LTJ Bukem, Tom Ravenscroft, and more. He was previously known as SILENI in the 2000s, having released leftfield d’n’b on Planet Mu, Subtle Audio, and other labels. We return to The Engine Rooms in Bow for our 20th edition of Impulse Control! flyer by @v_coroner CARDINAL & NUN (live) French project where emotion intertwines with meticulous sound exploration. His music balances intensity and sensitivity, moving between darkness and light, where raw punk aesthetics meet the shadowy atmospheres of new wave. XEN CHRON (dj) Boston-based producer and DJ operating in the grey area between techno, UK bass, breakbeat, drum’n’bass, IDM, acid and electro. Formerly known as SILENI, his work spans decades of underground electronic music. His sets are highly versatile - from wonky techno to experimental club, UK bass and jungle. LOCUSTS AND HONEY (live) Locusts and Honey craft slow-striding walls of sound and dense atmosphere, blending asphyxiating doom, black metal snarl and unsettling dark ambience. Expanding from a duo to a 5-piece, they bring a cold, oppressive energy to a live setting. AAKAARA (live) Producer, DJ and multidisciplinary artist focusing on black holes, asemic writing, detritus and distortion. Also behind @exquisite.corpse.ldn, his sound leans into maximalist techno- tough, heavily layered, acidic, unpredictable and full of sharp turns. RUBY QUICK (dj) A staple of London nightlife, Ruby Quick has spent the past eight years shaping deeply curated dancefloors through her parties Muscle Up and @gashlondon. Her sound moves through the darker corners of the 80s and beyond, from synth punk, EBM and new wave to hi-nrg, Italo, techno and goth. DISSONVNT (dj) Hailing from Amsterdam, Dissonvnt moves within the darker edges of the goth scene, where atmosphere meets weight and rhythm turns physical. As the founder of @___graveyvrd___ his sets draw from EBM TBM and Industrial techno hereby blending club energy with the shadowed spirit of goth. NEW FLESH (live) New Flesh works to combine a background in hardcore punk and noise while touching on EBM, deconstructed club and gabber. This brings a wide range of sounds focused more on texture and mood than any single genre or style.
