A look back at the opening of CHANNELLED: CYPRUS — Women Artists of the Island and PICTORIAL EXCERPTS at XeniArtSpace.

CHANNELLED: CYPRUS brings together nine women artists of different generations and practices, exploring contemporary Cyprus through female perspectives, memory, identity and personal experience.

In a separate exhibition space, PICTORIAL EXCERPTS brings together the works of Daphne Christoforou and her mother, Julia Astreou-Christoforou, creating an intimate dialogue between two generations.

We were honoured to welcome the Mayor of Limassol, Mr Yiannis Armeftis, who officially opened the exhibitions, and everyone who joined us for this special evening.

CHANNELLED: CYPRUS — Women Artists of the Island

Bringing together nine women artists of different generations and practices, the exhibition explores contemporary Cyprus through female perspectives, personal memory, identity, nature and belonging.

First Floor
PICTORIAL EXCERPTS — Daphne Christoforou & Julia Astreou-Christoforou

An intimate dialogue between mother and daughter, two generations and two artistic languages, exploring family memory, mythology and the cultural identity of Cyprus.

CHANNELLED is now open!

We are incredibly happy to finally welcome you to CHANNELLED: Women in Art Across Centuries at XeniArtSpace.

It was a great honour to celebrate the pre-opening with so many special guests — journalists from international media, fellow gallerists and members of the art community. The evening was officially opened with a welcome speech by Evie Tsolaki, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works of the Republic of Cyprus.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and shared this special moment with us.

During your visit, you can also explore our free audio guide in English, Greek and Russian and discover more about the artists and works presented in the exhibition.

XeniArtSpace is delighted to announce CHANNELLED, curated by Ksenia Kulbachevskaia and Maria Stocker.

The exhibition brings together women artists across generations, cultures and artistic practices, exploring the idea of the artist as a channel — a conduit through which memory, personal experience, intuition, inner states and energy are transformed into visual and material form.

Spanning painting, photography, textile, sculpture and installation, CHANNELLED creates a dialogue between art history and the present, revealing different ways in which lived experience can become art.

The exhibition explores different sides of femininity, beauty, strength, elegance, and sensuality through the works of some of the most influential photographers of the 20th century. Featuring iconic works by Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Horst P. Horst, and many others, the exhibition invites a new look at how women were seen, portrayed, and remembered through photography.

All photographs are generously provided by Vadim Levin, photographer, author, and collector of important 20th century works.

WOMEN IN FOCUS — a rare chance to see original photographs by the greatest names in 20th-century photography. The exhibition features iconic works by Richard Avedon, Cecil Beaton, Irving Penn, Horst P. Horst, and others.

All works are generously provided by Vadim Levin, an acclaimed photographer, author, and collector. These are original prints, featuring powerful and elegant portraits that shaped how we see women — from bold, striking faces to timeless, refined beauty.
