“I’m okay.”

As a widow, those two words carry more weight than most people will ever understand.

“I’m okay” doesn’t mean I no longer miss him.
It doesn’t mean the memories stopped hurting.
It doesn’t mean the silence feels less deafening or that grief no longer finds me when I least expect it.

Sometimes, “I’m okay” simply means I survived another wave. I got out of bed. I kept breathing. I carried a broken heart through another day without letting it completely break me.

Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

God never promised that my heart wouldn’t break. He promised that I wouldn’t have to gather the shattered pieces alone. Every time I say, “I’m okay,” it may not mean I’m healed—but it means God is still holding me together while He heals the places no one else can see.

So yes, I’m okay…
Not because grief is gone.
Not because I’ve moved on.
But because even in my brokenness, God continues to bind my wounds, carry my sorrow, and remind me that healing can exist beside heartbreak.

“I’m okay” means I’m still here.
And today, that is enough. 💔❤️‍🔥❤️‍🩹🕊️

As I step into 40 in July, I’m realizing that evolution isn’t always beautiful in the way people imagine it.

Sometimes it looks like grief. Sometimes it looks like surviving days you never thought you’d have to face. Sometimes it’s learning how to carry the weight of loss while still showing up for yourself and the people who need you.

Life has changed me. Losing Donnell changed me. Raising children through grief has changed me. The woman I was before and the woman I am now are not the same—and that’s okay.

I’ve met grief head-on. I’ve sat with heartbreak, uncertainty, and the reality that some wounds never completely disappear. But through it all, I’ve refused to abandon myself.

At 40, I’m not interested in shrinking to make others comfortable. I’m not interested in pretending I haven’t been through what I’ve been through. I’m choosing to honor every version of me that fought to get here.

The grieving me.
The healing me.
The growing me.
The evolving me.

All of her deserves grace.

This chapter is about embracing who I am becoming, accepting what life has taught me, and moving forward unapologetically myself. Not because the journey has been easy, but because I earned every lesson, every scar, and every ounce of strength that brought me here.

40 looks like resilience.
40 looks like growth.
40 looks like choosing me.
