Last week, director and writer Eike Mählmann presented xkopp’s first XR experience, »BlackBox Mensch«, at @immersivetechweek in Rotterdam as part of the Impulse programme from XR4Europe.

It was a fantastic opportunity to meet and talk to many artists and experts, gain inspiring insights and useful feedback, listen to talks and discover further XR projects.

Many thanks to @medienboard for funding our project, which is almost complete and will hopefully go on a festival tour later this year.

Many thanks to everyone who has worked so hard on this or supported us.

You can find out more about our project here or get in touch with us.

Starting today on @netflixde „The Outrun“ by @nora_fingscheidt

Our studio has created a short animation inside the feature film about the legendary origins of the Orkney Islands.

The Orcadian folktale »Assipattle and the Meester Stoor Worm« tells the story of layabout Assipattle who defeats a giant sea monster the Meester Stoor Woorm.
Its teeth fall out and form the Orkney Islands.

Here is a little behind the scenes, from storyboard to final.

The narration is voiced by Saoirse Ronan.

Big shout out to lead animator Ilya Lorenz Barrett @lotto.gewinner
who was responsible for the rough animation and all the FX work,
assistent animator Flemming Fiedler who cared about the waves and
Charlotte “Lotti" van Baarst for her great research,
Post-production supervisor Sandra Neundorf and
Production manager Jennifer Mueller von der Haegen ( weydemann bros.)

The design, storyboard and compositing were done by Irek Krett.
Editing by Stephan Bechinger.

The feature was produced by @wearebrockmedia @arcadepictures @weydemannbros

🔥 WHAT THE HELL! 🔥
Thanks @animationproductiondays for selecting »SATAN JUNIOR«,
a comedy-horror 2D series for kids aged 14+.
👇
Junior finds himself in hell as an identity-less teen. Created by Satan to follow in his footsteps, he flees from the nightmare of “family” into the human world. However, he initially encounters hostile people who only see him as a monster. While Satan searches for Junior to “protect” him, Junior finds courage, friendship and finally the love of his life. Junior, who now calls himself Jenny, no longer wants to run away and confronts his father. If only he didn‘t turn into a chicken 🐔 from hell every time when he gets nervous.

In the next few posts, we will give you a little insight into its creation.
