I grew up low income & watched my mom live paycheck to paycheck.

I made a lot of mistakes con dinero, like A LOT…but I was eventually able to learn about finances & break out of poverty. Y ahora, I want to help other Latinas & first-gen take the first steps to doing the same and actually building wealth en comunidad. 💸✨

It’s time for all of us to glow up financially!! 💸✨

I used to be so embarrassed about growing up low-income & talking about my finances but the older I got, the more I realized I wasn’t the only first-gen Latina struggling to navigate dinero & wealth building.

I’ve been wanting to make financial literacy more accessible & easy to understand para mi comunidad, which is why I’m so pumped to share that I’m continuing my financial literacy & crafts workshops!

I’m still really nervous pero I’m going to go all in! There are three upcoming workshops & if you’d like to help coordinate or know of any spaces in the Bay Area that would be a great fit, please let me know! 🌟

Besties talk about money with each other 🤭✨💸 talking about dinero con mis amigas literally felt soooo uncomfortable but I had to after I realized I was spending way more than I was comfortable with.

I was afraid I’d make them upset or that they’d make fun of me pero no! It does feel taboo porque a lot of us didn’t grow up talking about money but being transparent about our finances has helped us all learn about things like savings, investments, and be more mindful of each other’s financial goals.

We typically ask each other about what we’re comfortable with spending BEFORE we go out. ✨ da miedo pero true friends will want to support your financial goals & be okay with changing plans if they’re a bit over budget. ⭐️

I felt so nervous, I literally thought I was going to throw up. 🫪 I’ve been wanting to host a financial literacy workshop for mi comunidad for so long so it was surreal to bring this event to life! 🫶🏽✨

Thank you to everyone who attended the first ever financial literacy & crafts workshop! I hope you all left with some new knowledge & financial goals 🌱 & thank you to my incredible co-host, @piscola.mami for being so supportive. ⭐️

I’ll definitely be planning more in-person and virtual sessions so we can also glow up financially!

It’s finally happening!! I’m hosting my first financial literacy workshop in the Bay Area!!

Tengo miedo, im nervous, pero también, hella excited hehe. I’ve been wanting to host community workshops and post financial literacy content for sooo long but never really took the leap of faith because I was so scared that no one would care.

I didn’t believe I could do it 😭

I finally decided to cohost a financial literacy and crafts workshop in Oakland and didn’t expect any of the results we got….

An overwhelming amount of people expressed interest and support for the workshop and now, I’m thinking about how I’m going to expand it virtually and to other parts of the Bay Area.

I’m really anxious about the event but also excited to help other Latinas and first-gen baddies glow up financially ❤️‍🔥

2. Intuit financial literacy course
3. Intuit academy: taxes + bookkeeping certification
4. Women’s Economic Ventures financial empowerment class (in-person + online)

I’ve been really scared to talk about money.

I grew up low-income. No teníamos caro, we relied on food stamps and constantly struggled to get by.

There are a lot of things I’ve learned AND unlearned about money but I’ve been too scared to share them because part of me doesn’t feel like my knowledge is “good enough”.

But GIRL, I need to stop.

Voy a ayudar other Latinas and other first-gen baddies who grew up like me, who are trying to improve their finances, talk about money, and unlearn some of the unhealthy habits we grew up with. ❤️‍🔥✨

I have this overwhelming feeling of guilt every time I’m not being productive and I’ve struggled with it for a really long time.

I recently started going to therapy 🫪 and something my therapist told me was that there’s no point in all of the sacrifices made by our parents if we’re unable to actually breathe and reap the benefits.

Easier said than done but I’m trying to actually rest and not make myself feel bad about it.

There are a lot of things I’m unlearning, and one of them is that I don’t need to earn rest. Y si eres latina & you feel the same, I hope you remind yourself that you also deserve some rest. ❤️‍🔥 by @xochimilcuh
