“It only takes one voice, at the right pitch, to start an avalanche.” -Dianne Hardy

When I wrote this article, I never imagined I would be where I’m at today. From doing interviews with CBS, CNN, NBC, New York Times, The Shaderoom, and Don Lemon, it truly has been an unreal experience. Most importantly, I am happy to have been the voice for my team.

Racial profiling is never something anyone should endure and what we experienced by the Liberty County Sheriffs was disgraceful. In that moment, I knew their unlawful actions needed to be exposed. This was my first time being racially profiled, as well as majority of my teammates, which confirms the world is still in desperate need of change.

When it comes to racism, many times these incidents get overlooked. I am pleased to have assisted in spreading awareness on our traumatic experience. We appreciate the love and support from everyone, as we are still fighting for racial justice. Hopefully, my article helps invoke change for a better future and less racism in society. taken in CNN by @xosyd

What does it mean to be Black In America?

For the Delaware State Women’s Lacrosse Team, it means being illegally searched by the Liberty County Sherrifs.

Disappointed but not surprised by the actions of Georgia State police. The officers pulled us over for a traffic law violation, then searched our luggages for narcotics. There was no indication, smell, or probable cause for them to make the assumption that we had drugs.

They brought out the K-9 and searched the bags for 20 minutes. After nothing was found, the officers came back on the bus and let us continue on the road.

Our constitutional rights were violated and justice needs to be served. Time and time again, racial encounters happen without being formally addressed. It is time to take stand for racial injustice and that starts now!

*PLEASE NOT THAT IT WAS LIBERTY COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT POLICE OFFICERS, NOT GEORGIA STATE POLICE. THE WRONG POLICE DISTRICT WAS ACCIDENTALLY STATED* by @xosyd
