“Pillar” For My Brother

When you become a pillar in a community— and say something for so long that it becomes a part of you, your words carve out a rhythm, your actions build a home.

You’re the one who shows up, even when you don’t want to, even when no one’s looking. That’s where authenticity lives—
in the quiet persistence of presence.
Because no one can take away what you’ve built, or why you started.
 Purpose has fingerprints— and yours are all over this place.
We’ve got people in our community who lift others first,
who teach, guide, and hold space. They’re the ones we lean on, the ones we trust to lead.

And when you became that pillar, when your words sank deep enough to grow roots in the soil of this city—
your city your outlook changed—
 and so did the air around you.

The strength, the capacity, the effort— you carried them like a badge, and you did that.
Gevod did.

Everybody saw it differently.

Ma saw her “Son Shine,” beaming bright as the morning sun.

Big Sister saw the “Stunna,” the spark you always were.

Little Sisters saw the steady light, the laughter, the lesson, the love.

And your daughters— they saw the King.
They saw your legacy in motion— the strength behind your smile, the heart behind your hustle.

And the community— we saw the man who stood tall enough for all of us to lean on.

“Wake Up Everybody”

Gevod was only 24.

A Father, Activist and Coach who believed in the youth of his community.

He showed kids how to lead, how to discipline their minds, how to dream past their surroundings in the heart of this city.

He was awake. He was doing the work.

The song says “the world won’t get no better if we just let it be” and his life proved that change starts with people who choose to care.
