CBN is one of those cannabinoids I feel like people have heard about, but there’s still a lot of confusion around what it actually is.

So… you already know I had to yap about it. 😂

CBN, or cannabinol, is a cannabinoid that can form as THC breaks down over time. And because of that, it’s naturally found in much smaller amounts in fresh cannabis compared to cannabinoids like THC and CBD.

One thing you’ll hear a LOT about CBN is sleep. 😴

Now, let’s be clear — it’s not scientifically proven that CBN will make everyone sleepy. But many consumers report using CBN as part of their nighttime routine because they feel it helps them wind down or relax before bed.

That’s the difference between what consumers report experiencing and what science has actually proven.

There’s still a lot researchers are learning about CBN, and that’s what makes cannabinoids so interesting.

You can find CBN in edibles, tinctures, vapes and of course flower. Check the COA on your product for exact amounts

Me explaining all of this while falling asleep? Completely intentional. 😂😴

What cannabinoid should I yap about next?

No… CBG isn’t actually called “CBGiggles.” That’s just what happens when I start talking about one of the most underrated cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. 😂

Today we’re giving the “mother cannabinoid” the respect it deserves. 🌱
✔️ What is CBG?
✔️ Why is it called the mother cannabinoid?
✔️ Why should cannabis consumers know about it?

And yes… every fact comes with an unnecessary laugh break. 🤣

Because learning about cannabis doesn’t have to be boring.

I feel like CBD is one of those cannabinoids everybody has heard about, but not everybody really understands.

So I had to yap about it 😂

CBD is non-intoxicating, and it interacts with the endocannabinoid system differently than other cannabinoids.

One of the cool things I learned is that CBD doesn’t strongly bind to the CB1 and CB2 receptors the way some people assume. Instead, it interacts with the endocannabinoid system through a bunch of different pathways that researchers are still studying.

And when it comes to the effects people talk about, there’s an important distinction:

Consumer experiences are not the same thing as scientific proof.

That being said, many consumers report using CBD as part of their relaxation, wellness and pain relief routines.

So basically… there’s still a lot to learn. 🧠🌿

Now take a deep breath, sip some tea, light a candle and treat yourself not cheat yourself.

What cannabinoid should I yap about next?

Another Labor Day Parade in the books! 🇹🇹❤️

For the second year in a row, Matawana was proud to have a float in the West Indian American Day Parade — and this year, we went bigger than ever.

The theme was Collaboration Over Competition, and we saw that spirit come to life. Salute to everyone who came together to celebrate an incredible day. @rubyfarmsofficial @conbud @terpbros.nyc , @smokingscholars784 @polancobrothers @lh.cannabis @greencup_ny and @biggasdispensarybackup all showed up and turned all the way up! 🔥

A special thank you to @rubyfarmsofficial for partnering with Matawana and helping bring our float and tables to life. 🙌🏾

And much love to the entire Matawana team for showing up for the community and helping make our Back-to-School Drive happen — putting school supplies directly into the hands of families along the Parkway. 🎒📚

Shoutout to everyone who helped make the day special: @thekittycreme @theoracleofthegrapevin @hashtaghoneyny @nanticoke.2 @gtigrows @revertnyc and @dumboelectric Thank you for your contributions and for helping us make an impact. 🤝🏾

And of course, thank you to @newyorkcarnival for having us and giving us another opportunity to be part of one of Brooklyn’s biggest celebrations of Caribbean culture and community. 🇹🇹🇯🇲🇧🇧🇬🇾🇭🇹

This is what happens when dispensaries, brands, and community partners come together with a purpose. We can create experiences, support families, celebrate culture, and make a real impact far beyond the walls of a dispensary.

We’re not just here to be part of the community — we’re here to pour back into it. ❤️💚🖤

Back to school, Brooklyn!

For the second year in a row, Matawana showed up at the Labor Day Parade to give back to our community by giving away school supplies and helping families get ready for the school year.

We’re also proud to have donated school supplies to Bishop Anstey High School in Trinidad, extending our community efforts beyond Brooklyn.

A special thank you to our amazing partners @gtigrows @hashtaghoneyny , @nanticoke.2 CAPITAL REGION and @dumbo_brooklyn for helping make these efforts possible.

Community is at the heart of what we do.
