Your @montreal_2026 pro women on course part 1 by @y3riel

Photo dump from a 2 day cycling trip last week at Mont Tremblant. Good food, tried the spa (it’s ok), good company, hotel was questionable but was compensated. The north path are newly paved at the start! Love the paths! It goes 100km north! UTMB was also happening at Mont Tremblant last weekend ! Who knew! Expo was small. Event merch were pricy! 😰 $100 for a race shirt! $52 for a cap

BEAR SIGHTINGS! During the 204km ride from Canmore to Lake Moraine and Lake Louise, we saw bears and deers. No mountain goats. I had hoped to see at least 1 grizzlies or the boss but no luck. Just fresh poop 💩

Spotted two mama bears, 1st mama bear with 2 cubs and 2nd mama bear with 1 cub. They’re more like a teenager, not small babies—and one of them was sitting right on the side of the road like a puppy. It was honestly adorable and absolutely scared me as I rode pass. He didn’t even flinch! 🥺 I went to the other side of the road pretty quickly 😅 by @y3riel

Airbnb: 1012 Spring Creek Drive, Canmore AB
Host: Chris and Tanya

We had a wonderful stay at this Airbnb and would happily stay here again.

The condo is beautiful, modern, and very well maintained. Everything was spotless when we arrived, and it was clear that the hosts take great care of the property. The view was a real highlight and made it a relaxing place to come back to after a day of exploring.

The kitchen was also thoughtfully stocked with the basic supplies needed for cooking and meal preparation, which made the stay much more convenient. We appreciated having everything we needed readily available.

Overall, a clean, comfortable, and well-appointed condo in a great location. Walking distance to parks, restaurant and there’s a local convenience store around the corner. Underground parking and a safe quiet neighbourhood. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area. by @y3riel

A little photo dump from an amazing week exploring Canmore and Banff. 🏔️

Everyone knows about Lake Louise and Johnson Canyon, but honestly, some of my favourite moments happened away from the crowds, tour buses, and busy viewpoints. The real magic was found on the quieter roads, hidden corners, and peaceful lakes that make this area so special.

A few highlights:
📍 Moraine Lake
📍 Lake Minnewanka
📍 Canmore
📍 Mountain views around every corner
📍 More great food than I was expecting ( Google Review - Izzy)

The highlighted spots in these photos are perfect if you’re looking to escape the crowds and experience a quieter side of the Rockies. Early mornings were especially rewarding, with calm lakes, fewer people, and some truly unforgettable scenery.

If you’re a cyclist, check out my Strava for route details, ride tips, and GPS tracks. If you’re a foodie, I’ve also posted reviews of the restaurants, cafés, and hidden gems I visited along the way.

Already looking forward to the next trip back. 🚴☕🍜🏔️ by @y3riel

CHEO Ride 100km - May 2026 in Ottawa ON Canada. I didn’t any shots during event day. It was cold at the start and I was late 😅. Once we started, there were too many ppl around to pull out the phone. controlled chaos.

Parked at Tunney pasture, 3km from war museum

Debated what to wear… nailed it. Decided with
• Thin helmet liner + aero helmet
• Buff (neck)
• Sleeveless base + short sleeve jersey
• Merino arm & leg warmers
• Bib shorts
• Merino socks + full shoe covers (too tight—right foot numb halfway)
• Neoprene gloves
• Vest (checked in the jacket a few mins from the start)

My bike - Specialize SL8 2024 spec with dura ace di2, Silca waxed chain with speed chip and roval wheels 65psi in the back and 62 in the front. ASSIOMA power pedals, wahoo element, I didn’t run garmin RCT747.

Execution: ~180W flats, 220–250W climbs, actually recovered between efforts. Long pull to bridge to a group, then rode smart.

Fueling on point (~300g carbs). Fought with the bottle all morning and finally dropped a bottle (of course). The cold and gloves did not help

Final climbs—quads started to cramp. Stayed seated, held it together.Got dropped with 2km to go… still pushed ~237W to the line. 2 minutes faster than last time. Cramps hit right after. Timing’s perfect, as usual.

Happy with the progress and now I need to lost the weight last year when I didn’t do much recovering from the lung infection .

Only annoying moment is when I was cheering ppl near the finish line at the traffic like. for all the ppl crossing the street, LOOK BEFORE YOU CROSS FFS! SERIOULY? Riders just did 45km, 70km and 100km. Expecting them to stop on a dime is NOT OK! 😒 don’t walk across if you decide not to listen to the Marshal, trying to run across last min is NOT OK either, if you’re a rider trying to cross infront of a grp of riders, it’s even worst! Letting your kids run around is NOT safe near the finish line Or your dogs! Poor volunteers…. Some of us appreciate you.

Thank you to all @cncycleforcheo volunteers and organizers and emergency crews. 🙏 Thank you @solefitco finally riding without hip and feet pain, @flow.healthandperformance and finally to all my donors!!!! I appreciate you! by @y3riel

2026 P2A Breve 43.2km:this was a redemption ride. It has been a long journey back from a lung infection. It’s been slow, it’s been frustrating, bloating, gaining a few kgs… but the legs are coming back. The weight will hopefully fall off. This was a surprise podium. Totally unexpected. The mud was scary. Fri recon wasn’t too bad but it rained most of Sat. I did well, didn’t panic at the mud section. Rode where I could, walked the segments, I couldn’t. I only stopped once to remove mud from the tires. I was tired from carrying the bike and rolled it a bit: big mistake. I passed a lot of ppl on the road and they passed back in the mud section 😒 did my turn to pull in the trails and hassled through the head wind. Disappointed I had to stopped for a full min for the traffic but can’t be helped. Overall, great sunny day and I did well for an early event.

Logistic: I parked at St. George. Arrived at 9:30 and had a lot of parking. There are 3-4 diff areas for ppl to park. The bus from Ancaster back to St. George is free. It leaves Ancaster at 1:30 and 3:30pm. There are trucks to bring bike back as well but the bike are not protected by blankets - at your own risk. I brought the car back to pick up the bikes. Did the bike wash - this yr, it was a rinse. There were still dirt and mud on the bike. It’s $10. We stayed at Best Western in Cambridge. 12km to classic start and about 30mins go St. George-start for breve. There were beer, water stations to rinse yourself off or your bike, change rooms for male/female. Bag transport free from starting location to finish line. Suggest to bring change of clothes, socks, shoes, deodorant, hat, plasti bag to carry your muddy clothes and shoes. It’s a well org event. A few riders love the muddy conditions, I’d like to see less mud and make it more enjoyable to more ppl.

@paris2ancaster Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, emergencies crew, to all riders, to the @rhino_racing_cc riders at the event. that was the most impromptu meet up in the middle of no where during a recon ride😅 @flow.healthandperformance for keeping me healthy @theokincaid TY for getting my bike rdy @la.vie.est.belle12 🙌🙌 let’s get it! by @y3riel

Specialized Tarmac SL8 – 2,829KM In, and Still loving it

Picked up this beauty in April 2024 from Velo La Shop in Gatineau, QC, and after nearly 3,000KM, I can confidently say: this bike rips.

The Tarmac SL8 is fast, stiff, and razor-sharp. It holds speed effortlessly and practically begs you to push harder—especially on rolling hills, where it absolutely shines. When you get on the gas, it responds instantly. You feel the road, the bike’s feedback, and the reward when you dig just a little deeper. It’s the kind of machine that motivates you to ride stronger.

For comparison, I’ve been riding a BMC Teammachine SL01 since 2018—a bike I still love. But the two couldn’t feel more different. If the BMC is a finely tuned Buick—comfortable, smooth, and built for long days in the saddle—the Tarmac is a purebred racer. All sharp angles and fast twitch. Both are race bikes, but with very different personalities.

Build Specs:
• Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 12-speed drivetrain
• Roval Alpinist CLX tubeless wheels
• Shimano RT-CL900 rotors (160mm/140mm)
• Shimano Dura-Ace crankset (50/34, 160mm)
• Ultegra 11-34T cassette
• Pirelli PZero Race TLR 700x30C tanwall tires
• Silca latex tubes
• Waxed chain
• Supacaz bling/star fade bar tape
• Custom-built with love and precision by Velo La Shop

I’m still dialing it in, but this thing already feels like a weapon. Let’s see what the next few thousand kilometers bring. by @y3riel

Race Recap – Paris to Ancaster (P2A) 45km Gravel Ride - 10th of 27 in my AG -Finished in 2:16

This year’s P2A marked a milestone as a UCI gravel event for the 100km and 75km distances—though not for the 45km… which was perfect for someone still recovering from a lung infection. I had planned to either just ride or volunteer.

Saturday’s weather was miserable—rainy, windy, and cold—but Sunday surprised us with clear skies and sunshine. Surrounded by people like @fthisfthat_ , @marija_gonzalez_najera , and @starbwoylemmy (@winspacecanada sponsored athlete 🙏 for the photos) … no chance I was not riding.

After a chat with ChatGPT, I had a relaxed Zone 2 pacing strategy. That lasted exactly 8km and its game on!

Legs felt great, breathing was manageable, and I just couldn’t help myself and went for it. The first 38km were fast and fun (done in 1:20)… until we hit the mud.

And I mean MUD by MY definition. Apparently the mud this year is tame by comparison. The last 7km took nearly 45 minutes. I expected some slop, but not this peanut butter nightmare. There were three sections—one about 50m, the others shorter—that refused to dry. I slipped, fell, wheels caked up twice, and ended up searching for a stick to clear the frame.

I was running 42mm tires with barely any clearance, which turned into a major problem. Oh—and I didn’t realize the finish was an uphill. My lungs were loud and very unhappy—people kept asking if I was okay. I was… just couldn’t breathe.

Final result: 2:16 for 45km, 10th in my age group.
Solid effort. Revenge ride already being planned once I’m fully healthy. Pretty sure I can break 2 hours—with better mud prep, more tire clearance (maybe 38mm?), and by ditching the bottle cages so I can shoulder the bike (short person problems).

Huge congrats to @marija_gonzalez_najera for finishing 3rd in her category—even with photo stops!

@cervelo Aspero is an amazing. Love this bike. It’s fast, responsive, comfortable and compensates

Big thanks 🙏 to @velolashop —no flats, no mechanicals, and the bike held up perfectly thru the mud even after it is completely stuck

🙏 @paris2ancaster @ucigravelworldseries 🙏 all volunteers, emergencies crew 🙌 by @y3riel

Photo dump from Banff honourable mention

📍 Whitebark cafe, Banff - interesting, coffee is ok, nice place. If you need to grab a quick snack and coffee in the morning, this is a place to go. Parking on the streets

📍 Black Dog Cafe, Canmore - a hidden gem, tucked away beside our Airbnb. Good coffee, a little on the pricy side. 1 drip coffee and a latte with extra shot and vanilla was $19. They also serve breakfast

📍 Kananaskis Nordic Spa - the drive through Kananaski region is beautiful. Not often, you’ll get to see both sides of the mountains. The spa is busy and talking is allowed. There are quiet areas but it’s a hit and miss. Good views and there are camp fires by @y3riel

We’ve stopped at a few bakeries between red deer and Canmore. By far, the best chocolate cake I’ve had. A must stop if you’re visiting. Still hunting for a good chocolate cake! Must be soft but hardy on the inside. A good balanced. Not gooey or liquidy! by @y3riel
