T-minus 14 days until I officially become an Albany State University alumna. From filming YouTube videos and editing random clips in my room as a little girl , and still doing it now lol to preparing to walk across the stage with my Mass Communication concentration in Public Relations degree, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for this journey. There was a time I felt disconnected, like I had lost my passion and my sense of direction in all the noise. But purpose has a way of circling back, reminding you of who you are and what you’re meant to do. This moment is bigger than a degree, it’s about rediscovering my voice, reclaiming my vision, and stepping fully into everything I’m destined to be. I’m endlessly thankful to the professors who poured into me, challenged me, and guided me with wisdom and mentorship. And to my fellow MACO classmates, thank you for your perspectives, your creativity, and for pushing me to grow in ways I never expected. Even when it felt like there were a thousand reasons to give up, I found a million reasons to thank God for bringing me this far and leading me along the way. From attending a PWI that set the foundation, University Of Alabama at Birmingham, to graduating from my illustrious HBCU, Albany State University, that showed me what it means to nurture a Black Woman in America, I could never be more grateful to have learned so much in such a short period of time. My goal in life was to always be the example for young black girls to know that they have someone to look towards who loves Christ, has a mission to help improve lives, and will forever be the one that stands out in a field that is dominated by the majority. Becoming a doctor isn’t just a long term goal, but it’s my purpose and I’m so grateful that God saw fit to lead me on this journey!“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Oh to be Young, Gifted, and Black.Crazy to think the summer before my freshman year, I didn’t even want to attend college anymore. I wasn’t in the right headspace and felt completely unmotivated. Hi! Im Aylí and I’m 6 months old! I just love laughing and making silly giggles all day long. My favorite thing is playing with mommy, daddy, and my aunties and uncles—whether it’s peekaboo, funny faces, or just cuddling close. I love grabbing my toys, shaking them around, and putting everything in my mouth to explore. I’m starting to notice so many new things, and my big eyes get so excited about the world around me. I love hearing my parents voices, babbling back to them like I’m part of the conversation, and of course soaking up all the hugs and kisses I can get! On March 30th, my sweet girlgirl turned 6 months. Your six-month milestone fills my heart in ways I never knew were possible. I love your beautiful smile—the way it spreads across your face and instantly makes everything better. To my Sweet Girl, This whole journey has been such a crazy learning experience for me. But you have helped me grow in so many ways and will continue to help me grow.
