Suicide Awareness Month ❤️‍🩹

It comes as no surprise that I completed this piece on the first day of September. The journey with this piece was hard, long, and filled with emotion.

A little backstory: I’ve been healing ❤️‍🩹 in more ways than one, and this piece embodies a little bit of everything I’ve been processing—from domestic violence that resulted in my eye injury to other childhood trauma. Somewhere in the midst of processing it all, this piece was born.

Creating this self-portrait allowed me to revisit parts of myself I’ve had to learn to understand, protect, and heal. It is more than a piece of art; it is a reflection of my journey.

Last picture: Paying homage to my younger self. ❤️

Project: Self-portrait using recycled materials ♻️
