There is nothing to celebrate this July 4th because there is nothing *to* celebrate or even associate ourselves with as good Americans.

What are we celebrating exactly? Are we celebrating immigrants and their children needlessly and violently abducted? The relentless racial profiling and harassment of communities of color? Wantonly bombing countries with no clear purpose or goal? (Not to mention murdering their citizens in the process.) And what about the U.S.’s continued support for the genocidal dictator Benjamin Netanyahu?

What would have been a joyous occasion (after all, it is the country’s 250th anniversary) is now a mockery. You cannot even in a good moral position suggest that you can still love the country and not its leaders. Because even then, the United States of today is more reminiscent of 1990s Russia than even the U.S. as it was 25 years ago. by @yablahni

It’s incredibly surreal to meet and connect with people you’ve met on the internet, but it’s truly a blessing to be able to cultivate such rich, fulfilling friendships with them. 💜 Happy birthday to @fluffyhair22, and thank you SO MUCH for a wonderful weekend!! 🥺 by @yablahni

“So we move to LA. My father gets a job at the Palm Restaurant. My Uncle Junior works there who was a Jehovah’s Witness, believe it or not. He went from Catholic to Jehovah. So basically, my grandmother wanted us all to switch from Catholic to Jehovah, you know? Meanwhile, we’re from Harlem; my father’s doing coke, you know; my mother thinks she’s Ann Margaret; she’s teasing her hair with a bottle of vodka, you know; so dysfunctional, cross-addicted family, still cooking pasta on Sundays… And the meatballs, they- they wind up being burnt, you know?”

In all seriousness, Cosmo a.k.a. THEE QUEEN OF MELROSE is the nicest & most personable icon I’ve met. Thank you SO MUCH to Rayan @supreili for joining me on this moment.

Highly recommend visiting Cosmo’s Glam Squad simply for the sheer taste, fashion, and DEDICATION she has for her work, but an extra treat is seeing Cosmo herself. ❤️❤️ I loved every moment and I WILL be back!

This is the second set of the years-end post. Right around June of 2025, I moved out of Santa Cruz back to my home in Los Angeles. I also graduated college with a Bachelor’s degree! I had been working on it for the better part of six years, so I felt really proud of myself and all of the time and dedication I put into earning it. Another deeply satisfying moment in my last few weeks in Santa Cruz was the demise of the job. I left that job that I had been holding for four years without a goodbye to anyone (with the hard exception of @evvia_sunsets, because she’s a queen and she saved my ass several times.)

The change in scenery messed me up for a month or two, but I think I acclimated pretty well. So many more photos exist of me during this time period mainly because I finally reunited with my family, and I deepened my friendships. I do not regret this part of my year at all, and I feel like I’m entering 2026 with a fresh set of eyes and priceless experiences. I still have a lot more work to do, but I’m 100% confident in my ability to do so. by @yablahni

As everybody makes their end-of-year posts on Instagram, I might as well make mine. 2025 was a big year for me in a lot of ways, with there being two distinct moments where I felt things around me “shift.” I would like to share these years-end photos in set of two.

The beginning of my year absolutely sucked. I was returning from winter break to my silly little college dungeon (apartment) to do one of two things: I was either going to work in a dead-end job that I had held for four years, or I was going to attend classes with some (admittedly wonderful) professors at a beautiful yet socially-dead university.

In searching for images to make this collage, I realized that that many don’t actually exist. I guess that when your environment doesn’t evoke some sort of motivation to keep going, the desire to take photos and videos of your daily life go by the wayside. Some of these photos may feel meaningless to you, and that’s totally fine! I would just like to share with y’all the beginning of my year. taken in Santa Cruz, California by @yablahni
