Not your typical superyacht.

This is the 182’ @damenyachting support vessel “CHASING ROMANCE” being towed stern-first through the New River in Fort Lauderdale. Support yachts like this are designed to carry helicopters, tenders, dive gear, toys, fuel, provisions, and crew support for much larger mothership yachts cruising around the world.

Chasing Romance was built in the Netherlands and is owned by a Malaysian businessman. It features a commercial-style steel hull, a massive aft helipad, and a 12-ton crane capable of launching serious equipment and water toys. Despite the rugged utility-focused design, she still accommodates 6 guests with space for 11 crew onboard.

With a 5,000 nautical mile range and ocean-crossing capability, this yacht was built to work.

Follow @yachtquest for more behind-the-scenes yacht traffic from Fort Lauderdale and message me if you need help finding the right yacht for your lifestyle.

The @damenyachting 175 Bad Company Support Vessel easing her way up the New River under tug after officially arriving in Fort Lauderdale — and this isn’t just another support yacht.

Built by Damen Yachting, this vessel exists for one purpose: to support the BADCO fishing program at the highest level, anywhere on the planet. She’s a true mothership — carrying crew, gear, fuel, spares, and most importantly, the platform that actually goes to battle offshore.

That platform? The BADCO 50 Gameboat.

A fully custom 50’ Gameboat built by Croswait Custom Composites in North Carolina, designed specifically to be carried aboard the Damen and deployed into some of the most remote, fish-rich waters on earth. This is the largest Gameboat BADCO has ever carried, and it’s engineered with one mission in mind — catching giants. No marinas, no range limitations, no compromises. Drop the boat, chase records, reload, move on.

This is what global access looks like in the sportfishing world. The Damen handles the oceans. The Gameboat handles the fight.

Seeing a program like this move through Fort Lauderdale is a reminder that this city isn’t just a yachting hub — it’s a launch point for some of the most serious operations on the water.

Follow @yachtquest for more yacht movements, rare marine sightings, and behind-the-scenes looks at the boats built to operate where others simply can’t.

A fishing trawler’s profile. A very different engine room.

M/Y Scintilla Maris stretches approximately 150’ (45.6m), with a blue steel hull, red trim and towering foremast that make her unmistakable from the water.

Originally launched by @damenyachting Maaskant in 1988, she returned to her original builder for a transformation completed in 2023. Her hull was stripped back to bare metal, and the original 4,400-hp diesel gave way to hybrid diesel-electric propulsion.

Three Volvo D16 generators supply an electric propulsion motor, with operating modes that include limited-power battery operation.

Behind that rugged exterior are accommodations for ten guests in five cabins—including an owner’s suite beneath the original fish-hold hatch.

A rebuild that changed how she lives and moves without erasing where she came from.

The yacht that marked @pendennisyachts entry into luxury motor yachts.

M/Y Jubilee, spotted along Fort Lauderdale’s waterfront, was delivered in 1999 as Ilona—the first luxury motor yacht built by the British shipyard.

At approximately 150’ (45.6m), her long foredeck, rounded vertical windows and sweeping bow reflect the work of Dubois Naval Architects, with original interiors by Redman Whiteley Dixon, now RWD.

Her story continues with a listed 2026 refit and an impressive layout:

• Aluminium construction
• Accommodation for 12 guests across seven staterooms
• Elevator connecting all decks
• Dedicated gym and activity/media room
• Sundeck Jacuzzi and shaded outdoor dining
• Stabilizers operating underway and at anchor

More than a quarter-century after delivery, that distinctive profile still deserves a second look.

Four livewells. 290 gallons of bait capacity. This boat’s priorities are pretty clear.

A @conch_boats 41 cruising through Jupiter, showing off that pale green hull, flared bow and long, clean sheerline.

The 41 carries Conch’s fishing-first approach into a larger platform, pairing a patented Cross-Step bottom with vacuum-bagged, all-composite construction. Its factory livewell layout includes a 100-gallon aft in-deck well, a 90-gallon forward well and twin 50-gallon transom wells, supported by a six-pump sea chest.

• 41′ (12.50m) LOA
• 11′8″ beam
• 725-gallon fuel capacity
• Triple or quad @mercurymarine configurations
• Console accommodations with a V-berth

Plenty of room for the crew—and a serious commitment to keeping bait ready when the bite turns on.

If those sportfish details remind you of a Cabo, there’s a reason.

Spotted in Jupiter, this @magbayyachts 43 CC comes from a boatbuilding family with serious offshore roots. Cabo co-founder Mike Howarth and his son @barretthowarth brought former Cabo craftsmen together to create Mag Bay—and that heritage shows in the metalwork, helm seating and finish.

Underneath, the 43 uses Stephen Matthews’ patented Cross-Step hull. Construction combines a solid fiberglass bottom, cored hull sides and vinylester resin.

• 43′2″ LOA | 12′ beam
• Quad Mercury V10 400 HP outboards
• Two rows of triple @releasemarine helm chairs
• Mirror-polished 316 stainless hardtop structure
• 24° transom deadrise
• 75-gallon pressurized transom livewell

Before the yachts come the docks.

Looking down from the Las Olas Bridge, rows of floating dock sections line the Intracoastal as preparations take shape for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

This is the part visitors rarely see: the waterfront becoming a boat show, section by section. From above, you get a real appreciation for the infrastructure needed to bring the boats, exhibitors and crowds together.

Soon, the view toward Bahia Mar will look very different.
