an end of year character design project that had all my synapses firing. we designed a character inspired solely from a song — i chose « parachute ending » by birdy nam nam. thought process is on the following slides >>>>

this song swung between beautiful and atmospheric, and pounding, intense and cyberpunk . it made me think of a humanoid very suddenly distorted and changed through technology, warped and abstracted by beauty to the point of grotesqueness . how topical here on instagram dot com

without being asked permission, innovated into the future , quickly and suddenly enough to lose control of one’s own life and body . the character’s humanity is abandoned, or perhaps stripped away …

i love sketching out forms like this on paper. more organic that way. during this project i took direct inspiration from georgian vernacular/traditional architecture. mestia looks like such a beautiful place to be

we had to think through the layout very specifically, and what consequences any given layout would have on the inn and its guests and workers. here’s a few different ideas by @yae1ia

basement. wagons, carriages and horses come down through the ramp and are sheltered under the structure

rez-de-chaussée, organized around a central courtyard

first floor. the luxury suites have a view out over the waterfall
