My perfect and wonderfully talented sibling Dogwood Jude Ruthless Sweet Tooth @jud.jude.judith released a song this week, complete with a video directed and made by @adelazy_basketcase !

You should go take a listen and then go be around trees, as is the way of Jude The Dude and Jud the Bug, whisperer of Dogwoods, Cats, and Pit Bulls.

My EP …THE SOFTER SIDE OF ME is one year old today! 🥹🎂

Thank you, from every horrid, gooey cavern of my heart to everyone who took the time to listen to this little this little thing. A big thank you to everyone who reached out to me to tell me their stories about the service industry- it really is a gift to hear them. We’re all closing this fucker down together, and SOMEDAY WE’LL BE OKAY.

In lieu of my releasing any new music (💀🫡💀) I am asking you, on this day of crawdad’s and novels in the dark, to support the people who helped me make this album:

@aliriestuckey produced this bad boy, is a badass musician and artist, AND today is her birthday as well.

@westinmcdowell is an incredible musician, look him up!

@claritin.b is an amazing musician and sound engineer!

@holyanvilrecordingco is a slice of true blue, and I had such a good experience recording with Raif.

@homesteadrecording played on my album, yes, but also has a beautiful and intimate home studio to work with.

@kingelectricrecording y’all, I just cannot sing Justin’s praises enough, and I hope the next album you make if you’re ATX based is with him. Justin really and truly is the best.

@mutationistt is a thoughtful and wonderful photographer who helped me make my album cover. Hire her for a shoot today!

@chicorysweets lovingly made all the cakes (yes, they are fake) (yes, they currently decorate my kitchen) and you should absolutely get a custom tasty treat from her!

@ashley.nielsen.tatts is known for her tattoos (she’s done many of mine) but is also responsible for being my makeup artist on this shoot! Git a tattoo today from my angel!

I’ve been trying to think of a picture that sums up what a year this has been: the way monuments can avoid becoming mausoleums through dismantling over erosion.

Less five dollars words: things fell apart and made room for other things.

The other conundrum I had picking a picture was…how do I include everyone? I chose this picture of The Alley, with it’s veins securely with one foot on the right in memory and the left, my heart.

I’ve been thinking about all the good it brought me, how it brought me to so much love and sorrow. How it brought me a life and a family. It brought me to you.

This is the year I lost many people, lost many things. I fell in love and got heartbroken. I went feral rat princess and lover boy monk. I released an EP that I am incredibly proud of.

I have danced and sang and kissed and fucked around and found out and left the cradle of the ozarks to go back home to the wiiiilds of Texas. I have found my people again and again and hollered at many moons.

I’ve been loved and gotten tattooed and “searched for the soul that has meaning,” to paraphrase miller williams.

It’s been a precious life.

Here’s to new hearts in 2025, honoring old fires and fighting for the spaces that allow those strange wonders to exist.

Long live The Alley.

⚔️BEFORE THE BS OF SPOTIFY WRAPPED COMMENCES AND ALL YOUR MUSICIAN FRIENDS REMIND YOU THAT SPOTIFY SUCKS BUTTS IN TERMS OF COMPENSATING ARTISTS⚔️

I wanted to thank everyone who’s listened to TSSOM. It took me years to make it, release it, get the chichis to do something about it.

It’s fuckin wild to live in a world where so many people put their entire hearts and butts and souls and teeth and guts into five songs and set em free and it becomes worth”nothing” in a capitalistic infrastructure.

I don’t know how much of an authority I could claim to be about sense, but I can sure as shit tell you that releasing TSSOM taught me a helluva lot about kindness. From the musicians that I worked with, @chicorysweets who made the cover cakes, @ashley.nielsen.tatts who did my makeup for the shoot, @mutationistt using their talented photography skills to make the album cover, @aliriestuckey using their talents to help produce this dang thing, to hearing about how these songs spoke to people…no amount of streams could ever challenge these treasures in hand or gold.

Since April, this lil ep has been listened to and loved, outside of me being alone and singing to myself, wishing and hoping for better ways to look at myself. I cannot go back and tell a version of me a truth it doesn’t wanna hear, but I can tell you one or two, oh reader:

In the coming years, we need you to do shit. Make noise with your friends and find a way to capture it so you can hear it again and again. It doesn’t matter if you’re in rough shape, luck is 90% showing up and 10% believing it’s real. Magic is available always, abundant and true when you let soft and kind things exist.

And always tip cash when you can.

Thank you again for all the listens, I’m approximately a king and a million queens for it.
