Demanding @yale divest from fossil fuels, distressed debt, military weapons, and other extractive and exploitative industries, and invest in New Haven

POSTS STORIES REELS

Last Tuesday, the Yale Corp announced that the endowment had earned a 26.3% return, three times the target for this year. Yet, the trustees still want us to believe that $54.5 billion is not enough to protect key student programs, fight back against the Trump administration, and reinvest into the city of New Haven. Trustees without accountability or transparency cannot represent us. We demand shared governance to ensure a university that stands by its professed values, not one that casts them aside for an extra billion. by @yaleejc

Yale President McInnis was caught on a hot mic talking to the Dean of Yale about a confrontation she had with a student frustrated with the university’s settlement with the Trump Administration.

Students organizing with Democratize Yale compared McInnis’ depiction with the reality. by @yaleejc

As the @yaledailynews reports, Yale president Maurie McInnis was caught on a hot mic speaking disparagingly about a student organizer with Democratize Yale who attempted to speak to her at a Saturday Family Weekend event.

'“Anyway, she was one of those students who shows up pissed off,” McInnis told Lewis, referring to a student who approached her at the anniversary event. McInnis described to Lewis that she was “getting sort of ambushed-journalist by the Democratize Yale group.”'

The photo here by @gregpaknet shows a message chalked by an attendee of the protest on Beinecke Plaza on 10/2 that seems to predict this entire situation.

"McInnis + Lewis / no more photo ops / TALK TO US"

On Saturday, President McInnis told Dean Lewis that the trustees are “exhausting.” We agree: it’s exhausting to watch a self-appointed club of hedge fund executives run our university like a business. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni would elect better trustees. Democratize Yale. by @yaleejc

Oops, your mic was on… by @yaleejc

Yale accepts negotiations with the Trump administration, willingly offering up admissions, protest restrictions, academic freedom, and student life as bargaining chips — but has not settled a contract with the union workers who keep this place running. Contracts are up soon. Show solidarity with Yale’s union workers at 5:30pm on Wednesday, October 14, by joining the student contingent of their march from Phelps Gate. by @yaleejc

The Lipstick reigns! Yesterday over 300 Yale students, staff, faculty, and alumni gathered on Beinecke Plaza and rebuilt an iconic symbol of student protest — the Claes Oldenburg sculpture “Lipstick Ascending on Caterpillar Tracks.” In 1969, Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) protested against the Vietnam War and for co-education and labor causes. We honor their legacy as we protest Yale’s negotiations with the Trump administration and restrictive policies put in place after the anti-war Palestine solidarity encampments in 2024. Yale must defend diversity and exit negotiations; reform trustee governance; repeal restrictive free expression policies; and codify academic freedom. Together we can Democratize Yale! Check out the link in bio (@yaleejc) to learn more about The Lipstick, and get involved at democratizeyale.org.

President Maurie McInnis has finally responded directly to Democratize Yale’s demands…and this is what she said. We shouldn’t have to fight tooth and nail just to get a lackluster dismissal of our concerns. We deserve a voice from the beginning.

Join us today (9/2) at 1:45 pm on the corner of the New Haven Green to march for a democratic Yale. by @yaleejc

Friday. For a Democratic Yale. Be there! by @yaleejc

Good morning and welcome to campus, Yale Board of Trustees! We came across some notes left for you. by @yaleejc

After students protested against genocide, Yale chose to silence speech. While the trustees meet in secret this weekend, we have a message for them: Democratize Yale. Give students a voice. by @yaleejc

Due to rain, the Democratize Yale rally will now take place at 1:45pm on Friday, October 2nd, starting on the New Haven Green at the corner of Elm & College. Join us to Democratize Yale and demand Yale not settle with Trump! by @yaleejc
