sharing a little piece of a chapter i never thought would be part of my life ❤️‍🩹

life changed so differently when i found out i had to undergo major surgery.

i thought i had everything planned out.. graduate early, start working, and figure out the next chapter of my life. but suddenly, i had to put those plans on hold.

i had to surrender the plans i had for myself and trust God’s plan instead : )

in between all the checkups, appointments, and waiting, i still wanted to live my life.

i went out, spent time with people i love, laughed a lot, and tried to stay present. i also stopped drinking alcohol during this time, and honestly realized i never needed it to have a good time anyway.

looking back, i’m really grateful for these moments because they reminded me that life was still happening outside of the hospital.

the night before surgery was a mix of being sleepy, overwhelmed, and scared.

so i brought my little comforts with me: my (coloring 🤭) bible, favorite fruits, and obviously… all of my plushies !

anything to make the hospital feel a little more like home 🫶🏻

the day i had my total thyroidectomy.

going into surgery was scary, but i tried to trust my doctors, my family, and God. waking up afterward and realizing it was finally over was such a surreal feeling.

just incredibly grateful that the cancerous thyroid tissue was removed.

one of the biggest things i learned through all of this is how loved i am.

the flowers, cakes, food, visits, messages, calls, and even the little things meant more than i can explain.

to everyone who showed up for me in any way, thank you. 🤍💝

i thought my journey would end here..

after surgery, the final pathology came back and confirmed papillary thyroid carcinoma.

good news, the report showed that the tumor was in my left thyroid lobe with no definite spread outside the thyroid, clear surgical margins, and none of the 6 lymph nodes examined showed cancer.

but.. i still had one more treatment to go: radioactive iodine (RAI) therapy. it was done to destroy any remaining thyroid tissue and any thyroid cancer cells that may have been left behind after surgery.

while waiting for my next treatment, i also learn by @yanageronimo_

Thank you for the 3 beautiful years, DLSU 💚

I still remember being 2 semesters delayed and worrying so much about it. That became my motivation to take full load units every term while creating content and attending events. I wanted to catch up, to give my all, and to make it count. To my parents, thank you. Because of you both, I got to dream a little bigger. Everything I’ve achieved, I carry with your love and sacrifices.
