我最爱的姐姐的婚礼！ by @yang_yecoco

For 🇵🇪#peru
When filling out my internship preferences during Spring Festival, my cousin and I both agreed: it was time to see what the world looked like a little further away.

And indeed, Peru offers an entirely different way of life. The fragments of these past three and a half months are like the colors of a hummingbird’s feathers catching the sunlight. They swirl into the flaring skirts of a Marinera dancer, and flow from the chest of a soulful singer down his raised arm with a heartfelt ”mi amor.“ Do you see that flock of green parrots? The colors twirl with their chirping above Parque Ramón Castilla, flying past palm trees, crossing the Andes, and melting into the waters of the Amazon. That is the birthplace of color—interwoven with red, black, green, and yellow. It possesses an untamed beauty: like the dances of the jungle, where performers with bodies nearly bare leap and howl while holding pythons aloft.

”What did you learn?“ my professor asked. Of course, I could package this time with profound meanings-buzzwords like global competency, cross-cultural communication, equitable climate adaptation action, or Fiat Panis (the Latin motto of the FAO, which sounds like Scarlett O‘Hara’s famous vow in Gone with the Wind).

But the implications of those grand concepts are always uncertain. The only certainty is the passage of time. The certainty that I will never again have the Northern Hemisphere summer of my 24, which I traded for 3 magical-realist months born of the El Niño phenomenon; and for the lovely people I met and the stories we shared on this passionate land at the other end of the world.

Yes, this is the best realization of the birthday wish I made at 22, and the long-planned master‘s graduation gift I promised myself. As Wang Xizhi wrote in 353 AD: ”欣于所遇，暂得于己，快然自足！“ #lifestyle #freedom by @yang_yecoco

200% wild weekend in Marcahuasi with @violetaponcevigo ⛰️

First time camping at 4,000m.

Our minibus was swaying so hard to Latin beats, it became a full rhythmic roller coaster on those mountain roads💃

Daytime: dreaming of native history with El Cóndor Pasa on repeat in my head.
Nighttime: listening The Cure under the South Cross ✨
