A Couple Bits of Sweden Recently

I have been shooting simultaneously on two cameras and different films to try as much as possible because I have been a little lost.

Some things continued but I am still trying to find something. Tried Harman Azure again, this time on 120mm.

Thoughts On Photography

Now everything I wanted to put on here is up to date. I have been shooting analogue for almost a year, and looking at these photos, I am not satisfied. Some are nice; I like them, but I want to be more serious about photography as a way of painting reality. Everybody sees reality a certain way, and you can capture different angles, but everything up to now feels unfulfilling for me.

There are certain rules for exposing correctly and composing a certain way, but I have been noticing that these rules are the very things that force you to capture what the lens sees, not necessarily what the photographer sees. I don’t want the world around me to produce an image; I want to produce the image. All the subjects and colours are becoming disorienting; there is no continuum of motion; things seem barely animate; I seem inanimate and distant. Observing something doesn’t mean you are distant from the subject; most times it feels that way, because so far I have failed as an observer.

Things freeze as an image when they should be living; they remain images when they should be a part of me. It feels dishonest and the opposite of what I feel. They aren’t my memories; they feel fake. I dislike capturing ‘moments’ when everything is just one continuous moment. So far, I have relied on mastering my camera to make things happen when I should have been the one who made things happen.

These two photos are from the latest roll. It is the start of actually creating something. I am trying to find something beyond reality in photos, something that I see. It is a good direction, and at least now I am on that path. I need to go back to the start and find the right way to capture myself, a way to create my own reality. by @yangrollss
