Introducing the Florens Wall Sconce

This Florens Wall Sconce emerges from an intersection of the Constructivist and Art Deco movements.

It reflects Yaniv Chen’s investigation into parallel design developments occurring across Europe during the early twentieth century. The work investigates points of convergence between the two movements.

Bent, mirror-polished stainless-steel elements generate a disciplined formal structure, while hand-printed steel panels in primary colours introduce a counterpoint rooted in Constructivist vocabulary. The composition relies on the tension between reflective surface, colour, and geometric order.

Rather than referencing a single aesthetic lineage, the piece acknowledges a broader historical moment—one characterised by technological confidence, formal experimentation, and a sustained belief in cultural progress.

The Conservatory Outdoor Collection by @yanivechen echoes a bygone era, when conservatories and orangeries offered quiet refuge, blending the indoors with nature. Inspired by Josef Hoffmann’s 1905 vase and bowl collection, thousands of delicate steel perforations allow light and air to pass through, letting the natural world flow freely. The result is a quiet harmony between material and environment.

Presenting my latest collection for @lemon__furniture at @alcova.milano

The Conservatory Collection

Conservatory Collection offers a window to a bygone era, when conservatories and orangeries were sanctuaries of peace and quiet, seamlessly blending the indoors with the natural world. These spaces, often surrounded by lush greenery, provided a much-needed respite from the bustle of daily life, acting as tranquil havens for reflection and restoration. Historically, nature has been a powerful force for healing, and the Conservatory Collection draws on this timeless connection. At the heart of the design are the thousands of delicate perforations, a nod to Josef Hoffmann’s iconic vase and bowl collection from 1905. These intricate openings in the enamelled stainless steel allow the natural world to flow through the furniture, uninterrupted. The perforations invite light and air to pass through, preserving the integrity of the surroundings while subtly integrating the furniture into the outdoor environment. The result is a refined balance between the material and the organic, where nature and design coexist in perfect harmony.

The Suspiria Collection

The Suspiria collection stands as a poetic homage to Yaniv Chen’s beloved home of Turin, a city renowned as the esoteric capital of the world. Here, where the mysteries of the occult intertwine with the geometry of the universe, the black and white triangle of magic converges. It is within this mystical space that Chen draws inspiration, shaping the Suspiria framework from these ancient symbols.
At the heart of this collection, the luminous dupion silk triangle converges at a central point of onyx—a stone long revered for its metaphysical properties. Onyx, believed to foster greater spiritual awareness and balance, anchors the design, imbuing it with a sense of grounded energy and refined mysticism. Each element of the collection is a tribute to Turin’s unique energy, an exploration of form and symbolism that transcends the ordinary, elevating the space it inhabits to one of harmonious equilibrium.

“Inspired by his fascination with the aesthetic allure of interiors depicted in films and literature, Yaniv Chen endeavors to capture the essence of captivating spaces. Reflecting upon his formative influences, he recalls the delightful charm of the classic television series “Jeeves & Wooster,” set in the extravagant backdrop of the 1920s. It was within the confines of Wooster’s apartment that Chen encountered the enchanting allure of art deco design, characterized by the juxtaposition of yellow timbers against meticulously lacquered, high-polished walnuts and mahoganies. With the Various Positions Nightstand, Chen seeks to reinvent this decadence.”
