All good things must come to an end.

KingDa Ka I could confidently say was responsible for a huge part of my childhood. My first time visiting SixFlags GreatAdventure was in 2010 and I was genuinely enamored by the rides presence, the sheer intimidation of the massive 456’ tower. I remember going home that night and just watching all kinds of rollercoaster videos and content and I fell in love with rollercoaster engineering. From that point forward all I did was just watch rollercoaster YouTube videos and play rollercoaster tycoon. Eventually as I got older all of this phased out but I still often visited the park. And this ride literally never got old. From the moment you park on the launch track, to the click you hear as the train primes for a launch, then the launch itself pinning you to the seat as it launches you so fast. It’s truly a feeling like no other. And I’m so glad I got to experience it as many times as I did. When rumors were spreading around about its permanent closure I was too ignorant to believe that such a thing would happen. And it was mere speculation until it was closed forever. Without a warning, without an announcement. And that’s it. I couldn’t feel anything but heartbroken about this news. And it took a long time for me to accept the reality of its demise. I guess you really don’t know how much you appreciate something until it’s gone. And it’s set to be imploded around mid February 2025. I just don’t know how I’m going to be able to watch it happen. But I’m able to understand that there is just simply nothing that I can do about it. As much as I am devastated about the reality of this. I believe the best thing to do is not to mourn its demolition; but to appreciate the moments and memories generated from it. Just riding it and enjoying it with close friends and family as well. Thank you so much for the memories. Long Live the King
