This past weekend, second third and even 4th generation danzantes gathered to celebrate the life of the late General Florencio Yescas. The ceremony was hosted by one of his most loyal soldado, General Lazaro Arvizu, Xipe Toltec. Our late Captain Felipe Esparza was also one of Jefe Florencio protégé. It was a true honor to be there and celebrate his life. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations of danzantes. July 4th Ceremony for the late General Florencio Yescas + at Olvera Street, Los Angeles. Staring at 8AM with songs and prayers. Danzada 12:00PM.
WHO WAS FLORENCIO YESCAS?
General Florencio, from group Esplendor Azteca was from the barrio Tacuba, Mexico City. He played a vital role in planting the seeds of this sacred dance tradition here in Aztlán.
We are grateful for General Florencio’s teachings and for the important role he played in passing down this sacred dance tradition to our late Captain Felipe Esparza. His guidance helped plant the seeds of this tradition here in Aztlán, and we are honored to be among those who continue to nurture them.

We remain committed to honoring the path laid before us and ensuring these traditions continue to flourish for future generations
