Had a chance to perform at my first @bustagroovesd with my new SD fam @gwownups 💚This team has been my rock, my joy, and my push in the best way possible throughout my transition to SoCal this past year. Every extra weekend rehearsal and session that went past 12am was worth it. Not just for the performance in isolation, but for the opportunity to both collectively struggle and simultaneously commit so much to a vision that was truly one of a kind.I wish I could relive performing this closer with you all on stage. The last time I hit the stage with a team was back in 2020, and honestly like most collegiate dancers, I thought that was essentially it for performing. I kept dance in my life primarily through teaching at studios like @citydancelive when I was lucky enough to sub, but when I made the decision to move to SD, making this team was one of my biggest goals.I thought I was done with late night rehearsals ending past midnight & dancing in parking garages. However, this team has made every moment worth it.I’ve often struggled with showing myself love when being part of a team because I honestly look up to everyone around me. My retention isn’t the best, so I still need to put in extra hours to make sure I’m cohesive with my teammates. With all that being said, given the opportunity and trust to hold it down during this small portion of closer meant everything 🥺This has been one of the funnest, most stress-free & creative set-construction processes I’ve ever been apart of. I’m looking forward to sharing the stage again with these INCREDIBLE dancers I can now call my friends at @bustagroovesd. THE WAIT IS OVER.Thank you to everyone who has been keeping up with the From the Ground Up Series! Today I have decided to officially roll out that start of our new small business (🥁🥁🥁)YAWNZA huge shout out to @yoshi.nondragon for coming up with the name, but also being one of my biggest supporters throughout this whole process 🧡Like everything in this journey, I hope to roll out ideas slowly, but surely. But in the meantime, this launch means that I am now open to:• Book private catering/pop up events!• Host individual and/or small group workshops around dialing in your espresso, steaming milk, and introductory latte art 🦢 • Collab with other small businesses (esp. BIPOC + Queer Affirming spaces!)• Selling my first wave of merch 💤I will probably continue the FTTG series (possibly with a new title who knows!) because this is just the beginning!I’ve learned so much about coffee, the industry, and have met so many people I can now say are my community since moving to SD about a year ago. I dialed in 3 of the blends @sightglass provided and pre-dosed for the first time to help with consistency and efficiency. FROM THE GROUND UP EP. 11 [@worldofcoffeeusa !!!! 🌎]Thank you to our amazing friends at @minorfigures for taking care of @yoshi.nondragon and me today! We got to experience our first WOC and this video probably captures 10% of all the caffeine we actually had today.Their booth was hella cute and honestly I expected nothing less. If you’re attending this weekend, make sure to check out their little bingo stamp card 🔥 They have rotating coffee roasters throwing down and they are honestly the sweetest crew 😌We finally got to link up with our newest partners @sightglass for a hot sec, and Flo was able to hand off my official Sightglass signage that will be used at my future coffee cart pop ups 💙 Their coffee is my favorite and I had a chance to try their Ethiopian on spro 🤎Attending a conference like this really feels like a tangible step towards making my dream a reality. Telling people that opening up a shop down the road felt nerve racking a lot of the time, especially because I still have natural doubts of if this is something I can actually do.
