Sometimes you need to go somewhere new to see your old life differently. 有时候,走到一个陌生的地方,才能重新看懂原来的生活。

🌈 Kunming, Yunnan, China (Part 1)

10 October 2026

Over the past two years, I have visited Yunnan numerous times, often staying for three to four weeks on each trip.

And the more I explore, the more convinced I become that Kunming is one of Yunnan's most underrated destinations.

When people think of Yunnan, Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La usually come to mind. Understandably so. They are beautiful places and certainly worth visiting.

But what about Kunming?

Many international visitors simply fly into Kunming, spend a night, and head straight to other cities the following morning.

Personally, I think that's such a pity.

Kunming is so much more than a gateway to the rest of Yunnan.

From scenic lakes and peaceful wetlands to colourful flower fields, ancient towns, forests, waterfalls, and picturesque countryside, Kunming and its surrounding areas offer an incredible variety of places to explore.

As someone who enjoys photography, I find Kunming particularly rewarding. There always seems to be another beautiful lake, charming street, colourful garden, or unexpected corner waiting to be discovered.

And that's what I love about Kunming. There is enough to see and experience to fill a week or two, without having to rush from one attraction to another.

You can explore a few places each day, enjoy delicious local cuisine, discover interesting neighbourhoods, or simply relax at a lovely café.

With its generally mild climate, variety of attractions, and direct flights taking less than four hours from Singapore.

So, the next time you plan a trip to Yunnan, why not give Kunming a few extra days? Better still, consider spending an entire holiday exploring the city and its surrounding areas.

You might discover that some of your favourite memories of Yunnan come from the very city you had originally planned to pass through.

After all, Kunming deserves a place on your itinerary, not just on your flight ticket. 🍁😄

🇸🇬 Singapore × Johor 🇲🇾

Two cities. One increasingly connected future.

For decades, Singapore and Johor Bahru have been neighbours separated by a short stretch of water — close enough for breakfast in one country and dinner in another.

But something bigger is happening.

The JB–Singapore RTS Link is now in its final stretch**. Woodlands North station has been completed, while infrastructure on the Malaysian side is also complete and integration testing is under way. The approximately 4 km link will connect Woodlands North with Bukit Chagar, with the actual train journey taking around five minutes.

And that could change the relationship between Singapore and Johor far beyond weekend shopping.

A recent industry study projects that after the RTS opens, Singapore residents could make 11.2 million additional round trips to JB each year and spend about S$1.05 billion more annually there.

At the same time, the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) is creating another layer of integration. The zone covers about 3,588 sq km, including the Iskandar Development Region and Pengerang, with Singapore and Malaysia promoting a model where businesses can tap the strengths of both sides.

So perhaps the current Johor “hype” isn't really just about cheaper food, massages, property or shopping.

It is about proximity becoming opportunity.

Singapore offers one ecosystem.
Johor offers another.

Different currencies.
Different lifestyles.
Different strengths.

Yet increasingly, they can be part of the same life.

You might live in one and spend weekends in the other.
Work in Singapore and build something in Johor.
Explore Singapore's city life today and Johor's islands, small towns and rainforests tomorrow.

The Causeway used to represent a border.

Perhaps the next chapter is about what happens when that border becomes easier to cross.

Singapore × Johor
Different, yet closer than ever.❤️

🌈STORIES ALONG THE WAY
© YappariStory
Sat 5 Sep 2026

[Verse 1]
I've shared a table with a stranger,
Caught a train with someone new,
Heard a lifetime in an hour,
Saw the world from someone else's view.

Met a farmer in the mountains,
Heard a shopkeeper laugh and say,
“Life is made of little moments;
Don't be in such a rush each day.”

[Chorus]
These are stories along the way,
A little laughter, a little pain.
Different faces, different names,
But our hopes are much the same.

Every heart has something to say,
Every life has found its way.
We meet as strangers, then we part,
But leave a story in each other's hearts.

[Verse 2]
Some have lost and started over,
Some still dream of something more.
Some have travelled half a lifetime,
Some are only at the door.

And the more I hear their stories,
The more clearly I can see,
Though we come from different places,
We're not so different, you and me.

[Final Chorus]
These are stories along the way,
A little laughter, a little pain.
Different faces, different names,
But our hopes are much the same.

We may meet for just a moment,
Then our roads go separate ways,
But we carry something with us:
Stories along the way.

🌈 Being There
© YappariStory
Fri 28 August 2026

There comes a point in life
when you finally understand
that some regrets
cannot be made right,
no matter how much money you have.

In my thirties,
I gave most of my time
to work.

Back then, I always felt
there was so much to do—
money to earn,
a career to build,
a life to manage.

As for spending time with my parents,
I always thought there was no hurry.

I used to think,
when I had more time someday,
I would take my father on a trip.

Sadly, that “someday” never came.

Later, my father was diagnosed with cancer.
By the time we found out,
it was already Stage IV.

That was when I finally understood
that all the time we think we still have
may only exist in our own assumptions.

Even now, I sometimes find myself thinking:

If only I had worked a little less.
If only I had taken my father somewhere,
even on a simple, ordinary trip.

Today, I would at least have
one more memory
that belonged to the two of us.

But life has no “if only.”

The older I get,
the more I believe that
work matters,
and earning money matters too.

But some things, once lost,
can be regained.
Some people, once you lose the chance to be with them,
give you no second chance.

If you can still sit down
and have a meal with your parents,
talk with them,
go somewhere together,
or even listen to them fuss over you for a while...

don’t take them for granted.

These ordinary-looking days
may one day become the moments
you look back on
and realise were among
the most precious times of your life.

This is something
I only came to understand
through living it myself.

Some things can wait until another day.
Some work can be done tomorrow.

But when it comes to being there
for someone who is slowly growing older,
time will not stop and wait for us. taken in Kuching, Malaysia by @yapparistory

🌈Guangxi: A Softer Side of China
© Yapparistory
Fri 1 May 2026

(Verse 1)
We spent so long moving quickly
Trying to escape our own thoughts
Filling every empty moment
Until even rest (pause)
became exhausting

Always trying to perform
Always becoming someone
For the world

Somewhere along the way
We forgot how to exist

(Pre-Chorus)
Then the pace begins to change
Quiet nights in Guangxi
Waterfalls beyond the mountains
Ocean wind beneath open skies

Slowly
Your mind
becomes quieter too

(Chorus)
This is emotional freedom
A softer way to live again
No pressure
To impress anybody
No need to
Constantly explain

Just slower mornings
Late conversations after dark
Free to be yourself
And space
To hear your own heart

(Verse 2)
Sleep when the night feels right,
Wake with the morning light.
Spend your days by the blue,
Let the world wait for you.

No busy schedules
No pretence
Only quiet moments
To be yourself

(Pre-Chorus)
Savouring afternoon tea
Golden sunsets by the sea
Somewhere along the coastline
You begin to feel alive

(Chorus)
This is emotional freedom
A softer way to breathe again
Slowly leaving modern life behind
Far away from the rush you’re in

Ocean breeze kisses the evening,
Bullet trains, sleek and fleeting.
Suddenly, your heart feels free,
Lighter than it's been in years.

(Bridge)
Some people arrive exhausted
Without realizing how tired they’ve been

Tired of rushing...
Tired of ...
pretending to be happy
Tired of forgetting themselves

And this journey changes that
Quietly...
Deeply...

(Final Chorus)
This is slower living
This is coming home to yourself
From quiet nights to peaceful mornings
Beneath calm and open skies

You return home carrying something
Modern life made you forget
Inner peace, joy
And more yourself again

(Outro)
Not just a journey
But a quieter return to yourself

🌈CLOSER THAN YOU THINK
© Yapparistory
28 April 2026

(Verse 1)
Four hours out of Singapore skies,
And the world begins to quiet,
No more rush, no compromise,
Just a different kind of time.

Touching down, you feel it change,
Air feels softer, wide and strange,
In Nanning you start to see,
What slowing down can really be.

(Pre-Chorus)
No long roads, no distant dreams,
Just a train and open scenes.

(Chorus)
Closer than you think,
Three hours and you’re there,
To Puzhehei waters
Mirroring the air.

Mountains rise, reflections stay,
Time just drifts away,
In a place where doing nothing
Feels like everything today.

(Verse 2)
Lotus blooms and quiet lakes,
Every breath a moment breaks,
From the noise you left behind,
To a slower state of mind.

Then one hour more, you glide,
Through the hills so open wide,
To Kunming skies so blue,
Like the world’s been waiting for you.

(Pre-Chorus)
Every stop, a place to stay,
Or just pass and drift away.

(Chorus)
Closer than you think,
Every mile a softer view,
From hidden towns to valleys
Painted green and blue.

Take your time, there’s no race,
Every stop, another place,
In Yunnan’s endless journey
You can find your space.

(Bridge)
Not just one place, but many more,
Beyond each quiet open door,
Villages, hills, and skies so wide,
All along this gentle ride.

(Final Chorus)
Closer than you think,
Not a world away from you,
From Nanning to Yunnan,
Every moment feels brand new.

Take the train, let it be,
More than just a memory,
Sometimes the journey…
Is the destination you need.

(Outro)
Four hours, then a little more,
And life feels lighter than before.

🌈JUST RIGHT ✨ 2026
Thu 1 Jan 2026
© Yapparistory

The year 2026 arrives quietly, carrying with it a sense of calm and renewal. It is not about rushing forward or leaving everything behind, but about allowing what we have lived through to settle gently within us. The past year becomes part of our experience, shaping who we are while making space for new beginnings.

In 2026, life continues to move at different paces for different people. Some will move quickly toward their goals, while others will take time to pause, reflect, or rest. Both ways are valid. What matters is moving forward with intention, without pressure, and trusting that clarity comes in its own time.

This new year invites a return to what truly matters. Health, peace of mind, and inner stability become the most meaningful wishes. Progress does not need to be loud or visible to be real. Growth can be quiet, steady, and deeply personal, unfolding through everyday moments.

Challenges may still appear, but 2026 encourages meeting them with calm rather than fear. Each small step taken with courage and kindness leads closer to understanding and light. Hope is not something distant; it lives in simple routines, gentle connections, and the choice to keep believing.

As the days of 2026 stretch ahead, the world moves on in its familiar rhythm. There is comfort in this continuity. By walking through the year slowly, with a steady heart and an unhurried mind, 2026 becomes a year of balance, where life does not need to be perfect, only just right. taken in Orchard Road Singapore 新加坡 - 乌节路 by @yapparistory

🚩Introversion & Extroversion
Tue 10 Mar 2026
© YappariStory

Introversion and extroversion are often misunderstood as two opposite boxes. In reality, most people fall somewhere along a spectrum. A person may enjoy quiet reflection and deep thinking (introversion), yet still be capable of leading teams, speaking publicly, or building businesses when needed (extroversion).

Psychology today generally sees personality traits as degrees rather than fixed types. Many people are actually “ambiverts”—they have both introverted and extroverted tendencies, depending on the situation, environment, and energy level.

For example:
✨Someone may prefer working alone, thinking deeply, and observing quietly.
✨But when their ideas are clear, they can communicate confidently and lead effectively.

Because of this, introversion does not mean weakness, shyness, or lack of leadership. In fact, many highly successful entrepreneurs are known for their quiet, reflective personalities.

Below are a few well-known Chinese business leaders often described as having strong introverted qualities, yet they built extraordinary companies.

🌈Pony Ma (Ma Huateng) — Founder of Tencent

Introverted qualities:
✨Very low-profile and rarely seeks media attention
✨Prefers deep thinking and product focus over public speaking
✨Known for careful observation of user behavior
✨Quiet leadership style, empowering teams rather than dominating conversations

Despite his reserved personality, he built Tencent into one of the world’s largest technology companies, creating platforms like WeChat.

🌈Colin Huang — Founder of Pinduoduo

Introverted qualities:

✨Very private and rarely appears in public events
✨Strong analytical and reflective thinking
✨Focuses intensely on systems, data, and long-term strategy
✨Avoids publicity and stepped down from leadership early

His quiet, analytical approach helped build one of China’s fastest-growing e-commerce platforms.

🌈Zhang Yiming — Founder of ByteDance

🌈Lei Jun — Founder of Xiaomi

🌈Wang Xing — Founder of Meituan

🌈What We Can Learn

These entrepreneurs show that introversion can actually be a powerful strength. taken in Fuzhou, Fujian Province China by @yapparistory

🌸 Days 9–11
Quanzhou Impressions
21-Day Fujian Exploration

🌷Arriving in Quanzhou felt like stepping into a city where history, culture, food, and modern comfort blend effortlessly. These 3 days turned out to be unexpectedly pleasant -- calm, comfortable, and much more refined than expected.

✨One of the biggest surprises was the public toilets -- extremely clean, even in busy tourist spots. Floors were dry, there was no smell, and everything felt well-maintained. For a heritage city with so many visitors, this was genuinely impressive.

🍓The locals also stood out. Whether young people going to work or older residents strolling through the streets, everyone seemed well-dressed, with a neat, modern sense of style. It gave the city a lively yet tasteful personality.

🥡Food was especially suitable if you prefer light, gentle flavours. Unlike many coastal cities with heavy seasoning, Quanzhou dishes are soft, mild, and comforting. Nothing was too salty or too strong; it's perfect for travellers who enjoy “clean” flavours.

☀️The weather these few days was sunny and cooling, around comfortable range (13-21 deg cel) where you can walk all day without perspiring or feeling too cold. Clear sunny skies made all the temples, ancient streets, and stone structures look even more beautiful.

🌈XIAMEN, FUJIAN PROVINCE
Day 7 Mon 1 Dec 2025
© YappariStory

Seven days in Xiamen have been nothing short of extraordinary. Travel carries a quiet magic — the kind that expands your heart, sharpens your mind, and gently transforms the way you see the world.

Along this journey, I met people of every kind: the warm and cheerful, the hardworking and determined, the simple and contented, the complex with untold stories, and yes — even the not-so-honest ones, who remind you to stay alert, to grow wiser, and to trust your instincts.

Each person, whether kind or challenging, becomes a teacher in their own way. Some teach you gratitude, some teach you patience, and some teach you discernment — a lesson that is just as important in life as kindness. Through all these encounters, I’ve learned to give thanks more deeply and wholeheartedly.

Fujian is vast. China is immense. And the world is larger than anything I can imagine. Walking through it all makes me realize how small I am — like a grain of sand on an endless shore — yet still precious, still meaningful, still part of something beautiful.

Travel doesn’t simply show you landscapes. It shapes your wisdom, strengthens your spirit, and quietly turns you into someone braver, softer, clearer. For all these lessons, I am truly, sincerely grateful. 🙏😊🌷🌻

🌈DON’T BE A ROBOT 《别做机器人》
Thu 23 October 2025
Lyrics & Music by
JY © YappariStory

🌺 “Don’t Be A Robot” is a song that reflects the modern struggle of endless routines -- alarms, work, screens, and exhaustion -- where people move mechanically through life.

🌺 Each verse reveals a different stage of losing touch with real living: working nonstop, neglecting family, and letting time slip away.

🌺 Each chorus serves as a wake-up call, reminding us to stay human, connect with others, savour life's little joys, cherish relationships, and keep learning.

🌺 True happiness doesn’t come from money or promotions, but from a lively heart, meaningful connections, and continuous growth.

🌺 It’s a gentle reminder to slow down, breathe, and live with purpose — not just function like a machine.

Busy On The Right Things
2025年9月23日 星期二
Lyrics & Music by JY © YappariStory

In today’s fast-paced world, we are all chasing after something, yet often lose our sense of direction. Being busy isn’t about working harder — it’s about focusing on what truly matters. When we act with clarity and dedicate our energy where it truly counts, then good success naturally follows. Every rise and fall shapes our growth, and every purposeful choice brightens our path. I hope this song inspires you to live with focus, intention, and joy.

🌸 (Verse 1)
天天忙碌像蜜蜂,
tiāntiān mánglù xiàng mìfēng,
Busy every day like a buzzing bee,
汗水洒落无人懂。
hànshuǐ sǎluò wú rén dǒng.
Sweat falls, yet no one sees or understands.
努力不见大回报,
nǔlì bùjiàn dà huíbào,
Working hard but not seeing much return,
心里疑问涌心中。
xīnlǐ yíwèn yǒng xīnzhōng.
Questions keep rising deep in the heart.

🌸 (Pre-Chorus)
看似闲散的人儿,
kàn sì xiánsǎn de rén er,
Some seem carefree and unhurried,
财富悄悄在手里。
cáifù qiāoqiāo zài shǒu lǐ.
Yet quietly, fortune rests in their hands.
秘诀不是拼命冲,
mìjué bùshì pīnmìng chōng,
The secret isn’t blindly rushing forward,
而是方向牢握紧。
ér shì fāngxiàng láo wò jǐn.
But holding on to the right direction.

🌸 (Chorus/ Ending)
忙要忙在点子上,
máng yào máng zài diǎnzǐ shàng,
Be busy on the right things,
财富自然会跟上。
cáifù zìrán huì gēn shàng.
And wealth will naturally follow.
机灵比辛苦闪亮,
jīling bǐ xīnkǔ shǎn liàng,
Smartness shines brighter than hard toil,
机会就在你身旁。
jīhuì jiù zài nǐ shēn páng.
Opportunity is right beside you.
忙要忙在点子上,
máng yào máng zài diǎnzǐ shàng,
Be busy on the right things,
价值开出芬芳香,
jiàzhí kāi chū fēnfāng xiāng,
Let your worth bloom with fragrant grace.
高效人生不迷茫,
gāoxiào rénshēng bù mímáng,
An effective life knows no confusion,
幸福和钱一起闯。
xìngfú hé qián yīqǐ chuǎng.
Where happiness and prosperity, go hand in hand.

🌸 (Bridge)
辛苦不是终点站,
xīnkǔ bùshì zhōngdiǎn zhàn,
Hard work isn’t the way,
智慧才是指南针。
zhìhuì cái shì zhǐnánzhēn.
Wisdom is the true compass.
方向对,未来亮,
fāngxiàng duì, wèilái liàng,
With the right direction, the future shines,
大梦想终会闪光。

And great dreams will one day glow bright. taken in Kunming, Yunnan by @yapparistory
