A huge congratulations to our very own Gail and Paula on the incredibly successful launch of their new exhibition, Loves & Landscapes, at Holywood Library! ✨

The launch on Saturday was a fantastic success, and we couldn’t be prouder to see two members of our team showcasing their beautiful work together.

The exhibition features a lovely collection of prints and original pieces by both Gail and Paula, bringing together their individual styles and creative perspectives.

Kathryn popped down to visit them at the exhibition, and it’s safe to say we’re very excited to see the collection in person!

If you’re in Holywood, we really encourage you to call in and have a look. Loves & Landscapes runs at Holywood Library until 19th October - definitely one to add to your list! 💛

Not all prints are created in the same way! 🖼️

From lino and etching to screen printing and monotypes, there are so many different printmaking techniques… each with its own process and character.

Swipe through to discover what makes them different, and why the word “print” doesn’t always mean “reproduction”.

🧐 How well do you know Northern Ireland?

We’ve put together a little Northern Ireland location quiz… but how many can you actually recognise? 👀

Some will probably be instantly recognisable, while others might have you scratching your head! 🤔

It’s amazing to see how our iconic Northern Irish scenery can look completely different when interpreted through the eyes of different artists. 🎨

Can you name them all? 👇
Drop your guesses in the comments… no cheating! 😂

🎨 Artists: Stephen Farnan, Verner Finlay, Mark Geddis, Yvonne Adams & Richard Croft

Let’s see who can get the full house! 🏆

P.s. All of these beautiful original pieces are available online or in the gallery.

We’ve decided to start a new weekly feature here at The Yard Gallery… our Staff Pick… giving us a chance to highlight some of the wonderful artists whose work we’re lucky enough to display in the gallery.

Each week, a different member of our team will choose a piece that has caught their eye. With everyone bringing their own tastes and favourites to the gallery, we’re looking forward to seeing the different works that make the cut!

This week’s pick comes from Laura, the newest addition to the Yard Gallery team, who has chosen Whitepark Bay 2 by Jessica Sampson.

There’s so much to love about this expressive oil painting, from the vibrant greens of the landscape and blues of the sea, to the warm tones of the sand and those beautiful pops of pink throughout.

The gorgeous texture of the oil paint, combined with Jessica’s expressive brushstrokes, adds another dimension to the piece, creating a wonderful sense of movement and bringing the landscape to life.

Jessica has such a distinctive way of capturing the Irish coastline, combining recognisable places with an expressive and atmospheric style.

We currently have three original works by Jessica in the gallery, so if you love Whitepark Bay 2, there’s more of her work to discover. 🤍

✨ A roundup of a very busy week at the gallery! ✨

It’s been a brilliant one here at Yard Gallery!

We welcomed beautiful new originals from Gary Muri, Michael Brown and Emma Kinlough, said goodbye to several originals and plenty of prints as they headed off to new homes, and helped lots of lovely customers find the perfect pieces for their spaces and gifts for people they love. 🤍

Behind the scenes, we’ve also been busy planning an exciting new exhibition 👀 (details coming soon!), while dreaming up new ways to help people experience and learn more about art… and create opportunities for talented local artists.

And finally, we had to say a very sad farewell to our lovely James, who has spent the past month helping out at the gallery while home from university. He’s been an absolute star and such a brilliant help to the team!

Good luck with your studies, James! 🎓 We’ll miss you and hope to see you back at the gallery when you’re home! ❤️

Now, onto another busy week… 🎨

With their muted, atmospheric landscapes and expressive, textural brushwork, both pieces have a wonderfully understated quality that draws you in and invites you to look a little closer.

They’re already proving to be a particular favourite of our new owner, Kathryn… and we can certainly see why! 🤍

We’re so excited to welcome this beautiful new piece by Gemma Healy into the gallery! ✨

Titled ‘Iridescent Ireland’, this stunning ribbon and acrylic wall hanging is a wonderful celebration of colour, texture and intricate detail.

There’s something about seeing a piece like this in person that photographs simply can’t capture… the layers, movement and beautiful colours really come to life as you walk around it.

Iridescent Ireland is now on display at the Gallery, so if you’re visiting, be sure to take a closer look. We think you’ll love it as much as we do! 💚
