My waffle loop scarf got a lot of use this past weekend down in Nannup. The mornings and evenings were absolutely icy so it made for a very welcome, toasty warm accessory. I'm definitely going to get a lot of wear out of it this winter.

The pattern was super straightforward and is by @otherloops Once you memorise the pattern repeat it becomes super easy, unless you're like me your mind tends to wander and you knit the same two rows twice. 🤦🏼‍♀️😆 It's ok, only you and I know about it. 😂

The yarn I bought from @yuzawaya_hobby in Kichijōji during our Japan visit. It's Airy Wool Alpaca by Daruma in blue grey. It's 80% wool and 20% alpaca and I find it quite soft.

We stayed in a very cute house in time so had to take advantage and snap a few photos of my latest FO. Last photo is less aesthetic of me wearing it heading to cheer on the gravel cyclists who participated in the race.

My Love to Kalaallit Nunaat cowl by @solrundesigngreenland along with one of my treasured books on Inuit tattoo traditions by @hovakj which Mr Yarrow gifted me a few birthdays ago.

I've had my eye on Lisa's Inuk sweater for years and I feel like this might finally be the year I cast it on. Her sweaters that echo the traditional beaded collars on the women's national costume are absolutely stunning.

The pattern is well written (I used the Danish version but it's now available in English) free from her Ravelry store.

It's still a little too hot here in Perth (high 30⁰C) to wear it, but I will be getting lots of use out of it come winter.

I used Rauma Finull from my stash which bloomed beautifully after blocking. It always looks a bit untidy while I'm knitting with it, but blocking makes a big difference.

Kalaallit Nunaat kalaallit pigaat. 🇬🇱♥️🤍

My 2026 making vision board. I know Make 9 is super popular, but there's no way I can commit to making 9 projects at the beginning of the year.

For starters, I'm a slow knitter with lots of life interruptions. Secondly I will change my mind as I tend to knit what I feel like knitting.

There are however some things I would like to do this year, like making more time for spinning and weaving. I also want to knit more colourwork, knit a dream project, knit more from my books and patterns in my library instead of getting distracted by new releases, reduce my stash a bit and knit something that's been on my knit list for ages. Some of these might overlap.

I might not be able to tick everything off my list by the end of the year, but I feel like having a vision board with some direction is a lot more realistic for me than having a list of projects to work through. I like that it's more flexible and I won't be stress knitting my way through the year. 😆

Please let me know if you have any knitting or crafting goals this year. I feel like most of us are returning to knitting as a form of relaxation and comfort over knitting as many projects as we can. 🧶

My imperfect photos of what turned out to be the perfect travel sweater. I wore this so much over the 3 weeks we were in Japan. On the flight there. Exploring. On the Shinkansen. Out to dinner. You name it!

I knit it in @holstgarn supersoft in the colour Scotspine. It made for a warm but super lightweight sweater. Plus the colour is just stunning.

The pattern is Myeverydaysweater by Holdmasken. I had to knit a few sizes up as my gauge was off using only one strand. The pattern was super straightforward and I'll definitely knit another version sometime in the future.

Photos were taken in our Airbnb in Koyasan. You can tell I've been wearing it non-stop. 😂 I also include a photo of the gorg Autumn trees in Koyasan (this was right across our accommodation) and a selfie I took wearing the sweater in Tokyo exploring on our first day. 😊

I don't often do a big yarn shop but as a little birthday treat earlier this month I decided to gift myself some skeins for sweaters I have planned.

On my list is Rauma's Setesdal sweater. I'm hoping my Norwegian is good enough to understand the instructions. 😅 I fell in love with the original colours and the rusty reddish brown looks even nicer in person. 😍

Some gorgeous KFO for potentially an Eun Sweater and some Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt (so lush) and Tynn Silk Mohair for another sweater (currently deciding between 3 options 😆).

Have to say a big tusen takk to Sofie and Helene from @garntopia who checked in with me before shipping off all this squishy goodness from Norway to Australia and wanted to make sure I knew the pattern book was in Norwegian.

I can't wait to get some of this gorgeous yarn on my needles!

Test knit done just in time for winter!

I recently got to test knit the cosy Gunnvor Hood for the lovely @quist.knits

It was such a fun knit and the pattern is super clear and easy to follow.

I knit the size L because I have a giant head and long hair. It fits perfectly with a little room to spare if I want to add additional layers underneath.

The yarn I used was @camarosedk Snefnug in the colour grey. It was my first time using it and to say it's soft and warm is an understatement. I bought the yarn here in Australia from @thelittleyarnstore

I wish I had this hood when I was visiting Svalbard a few years ago and was kayaking along glacier fronts! It would have kept my head and ears nice and warm.

The pattern will be released a little later this year to coincide with autumn in the northern hemisphere. I'll be sure to share it in my stories once it goes live. ☺️

Taking out my vintage @daleofnorway cardigan I thrifted last year so I finally get round to sewing on the clasps I ordered. Someone removed the originals. I thought today is perfect as it's Constitution Day in Norway. 🇳🇴 I'm looking forward to seeing all my friends wearing their gorgeous bunads. 😍

It's also Mr Yarrow's birthday today so we're celebrating too! 🎉🎉 I iced the cake we baked last night and I can confirm it's delicious and absolutely decadent. It's a vegan chocolate ganache cake. 🤤

Looking forward to an afternoon of knitting and sewing before continuing the celebration with a lovely dinner at his favourite restaurant. Unfortunately this year is way too hot for wearing any knits yet.

Remembering to post my wips as well as fo's.

I'm currently knitting the Italian Summer Scarf by @anitalianknitter I'm making a winter version knitting it with @jarbogarn Svensk Ull 3 tr which I bought in Longyearbyen almost 2 years ago. Sienna definitely approves of the yarn. 😸

This has been such a nice, relaxing knit in the evenings and is great for stash busting. I'm on the decreases now and about to start on my last skein.

This is going to be such a warm, squishy scarf for winter despite autumn showing no signs of arriving yet. 😄

I think this is also a great alternative to the Sophie Scarf if you're looking for something similar.

The pattern is free (thank you Francesca!) and can be found in Ravelry.

Just doing the happy dance over here as Mr Yarrow starts the (very) long journey back home from Trondheim.

He was able to wear his Northland sweater for the first time since I finished it. It took me most of last year to knit (I seriously struggled with knitting mojo) and I finished just in time for the Australian summer to start. 😂 Needless to say it's been way too hot to wear it so far.

Luckily he could take it on his trip and it helped keep him toasty warm while out sightseeing in between work.

Yarn is @isageryarn Aran Tweed in Blue
Mr Yarrow chose the colour and @garntopia shipped it all the way from Norway to Australia in record time.
Pattern is the Northland Sweater by @petiteknit

It's a great pattern, easy to follow and Mr Yarrow is super happy with the fit.

I still have almost 2 full skeins left and he has hinted at a beanie. I'm thinking I might have to knit a sweater for myself in this yarn. It's incredibly warm and I find it nice and soft.

Stash busting for my next project.

Bought this rustic but squishable @jarbogarn Swedish wool yarn when we were in Longyearbyen 2 years ago at @fruene.svalbard (a yarn shop and cafe, what more do I need?) I haven't been able to stop squishing it since so when I realised I needed some winter accessories I knew I had to use it.

This will become An Italian Summer Scarf, but winter edition from @anitalianknitter It's a free pattern and it's perfect for evenings when I want something enjoyable and easy to knit on. In fact I'm finding it hard to put down. 😁

My version will be a lovely warm, woolly scarf ready for when the winter weather arrives in June. 🧣

Decided to frog the shawl I've been knitting on yesterday. I've spent just over a month knitting on it but I felt like garter stitch wasn't the best for showing off this beautiful yarn, so I unravelled it all and am currently browsing Ravelry for some inspiration. Maybe a light fingering sweater to wear on our milder winter days? 🤔

I see so many knitters finishing projects they're not in love with instead of frogging and using the yarn in a project they'll love. My aim this year is to use my stash for garments and accessories I know I will wear and will get lots of use out of. There's no point for me making something that will clutter my cupboard and make me feel sad every time I see it.

If that means frogging a month's worth of knitting, so be it! 😆 I just get to enjoy the yarn for longer. 😁

2025 is the year of stash knitting for me. Although as I type this I am looking at @hillesvagullvarefabrikk 's website and writing down yarn names and colours for my lovely husband to bring back for me from his work trip to Norway later next month. 😆

In fairness, I live in Australia and the opportunity to get a sweater quantity of Hillesvåg yarn doesn't happen often! I am grabbing it with both hands! 😄

But back to the stash. I am in desperate need of some accessories. I am often cold so having a wrap or ear warmers nearby or in a bag is always a good idea for me, even here in Perth. The lovely husband has also asked for a beanie (something I've never knitted because my head looks ridiculous in one).

So my 2025 knitting goal is to reduce some of my stash and use up some of the beautiful special skeins I've been holding on to. Because while they're gorgeous to look at and squish, I will appreciate and enjoy wearing them more.
