As I sit and ponder all day what it is I am grateful for. I look back and see so many reasons to be thankful for. As I made a list of the good I realized how much bad came with it. Honestly I sat there and chuckled, I’m thankful for it all. The good, the bad, and the in-between. The fluffy stuff in the middle that made it all teeter toter, that gray area that a lot of us live in. The Good-mornings, the “hey how are you”, down to the “you sure you know what you are doing” questions. It all goes together to get us to where we stand today. Whether that’s faith or destiny or whatever it is you believe in. You are the creator to your own path, or demise. It can go either way depending on what side of whatever issue you face is. I’ve never sat back and reflected so much in my life like I did this year. We are always so busy caught up looking for motivation, reason, or the inspiration to keep going, but have you ever just sat back in your own company and just flat out thanked your self? Like actually thought to yourself “thank you for everything I got myself through” all those untold battles, all those things you don’t talk about? That’s what I’m thankful for. For all the moments I doubted myself and still did it, for all the times I told my self I couldn’t and still got it done, and most of all, for all the times I failed immensely and did not let that shape me nor direct me into a direction that would negatively affect my life or the trajectory of how my life is supposed to go. I thank me.

My brother.

Where do I even begin with you, little brother? You have been one of the greatest gifts in my life. You tell me all the time how much you look up to me, but the truth is, I’ve always looked up to you.

I’ve watched you face life at its hardest. I’ve seen you at your lowest, and somehow you still rose from it with strength, grace, and heart. The man you’ve become continues to amaze me, and I couldn’t be more proud.

I am beyond honored to call you my brother. I appreciate you more than words can explain — for everything you do, and for simply being you. Thank you for being the big little brother I never knew I needed.

As you walk through life as a father, husband, and protector, I know without a doubt that you are becoming everything you were meant to be.
