Tranquil was printed on @kodak_shootfilm Vision3 5213 35mm film. The film-out process helped unify the live action & visual effects, added gorgeous grain & texture and provided an opportunity for happy accidents.

This is a chronoscope camera! My name is Miguel Barbosa and I’m a filmmaker. I made a movie called Tranquil and this is one of the main props from it. A chronoscope is a time viewer, which means you can record the past. It was 3D printed by Tri Forged Studios. When I came up with this idea, 3D printing wasn’t even really a thing so it’s pretty surreal to see this come to life like this. In the movie itself, to bring the past to life through the chronoscope camera, we did some visual effects that has never been done before in the history of short form filmmaking.

TRANQUIL SYNOPSIS:

When a U.S. senator mysteriously disappears, a team of intelligence specialists defy government orders to search for him. In a race against time, they must navigate a high-stakes game of surveillance, cover-ups and digital breadcrumbs.

“Tranquil is a non-stop, pulse-pounding ride. We emphasized every detail… the cinematography, music, sound and all things design. It’s a grounded portrayal of a sci-fi machine that has the power to change everything. And the people who will stop at nothing to control it.”
