Still testing these old paintings in these interesting public structures. These structures are mostly not in use during the weekends, for that reason,i capitalised on that to display these paintings. My immediate gallery😀. Thinking- space activation and how could a space becomes adaptive through time, use and presence?. Surely not today💯☝🏿 by @yeboah4644
I installed one of my painting - "A nap at the shop" which i made in 2021 inside a functional provision shop. This painting was part of my exploration on how the shop becomes not just only a space for buying and selling, also a space for rest, a space for visitation, a space to initiate a conversation and make friends,,,,,a space where domestic activities blur with public space. The painting made of domestic materials, negotiates belonging with the space already full of domestic products. The everyday products becomes both context and co-exhibit. The shop becoming the frame, and the painting becoming the product. Making everyday life feel worthy of looking. What is expected and how do people shift it? by @yeboah4644
Some tests before we step out for the bigger picture💣. This was my first painting in 2021 under the shop series. I have not been able to exhibit it anywhere after my final year exhibition in 2021. I painted this because of how the shop keeper decides to leave his slippers at the entrance of the shop, showing how important and how he values and respects the space though it might look small, almost empty and unattractive. I really love how his action decides what belongs and does not belong in his space. This test was intended to explore how the curtain becomes a soft architecture. A domestic material that negotiates belonging by allowing inhabitants to shift a space between public and private, open and closed without permanent construction. We making it exist, then the brain can continue the rest🧠 by @yeboah4644
Still searching and playing.. A space is not just only about its walls, but also how it is organised, the memories it holds, who/what belongs and does not, and how it constantly shifts. It is where purpose, access and identity meet. by @yeboah4644
Anadwo nsemsem😩.. If nothing is new under the sun and we are in an era of high level of imitation, then we hold on tight to our experiences and be honest in our execution.. Curiosity- Playfulness- Discoveries Space, memory and belonging as a shifting and dynamic elements. by @yeboah4644
Face waamutu☹️..Midnight wahala😵‍💫🥱😩 by @yeboah4644
Studio preparations. The results of trying to answer the questions each work and element asks. Playfulness with an intentional experimentation. Back to the board 😊. A beautiful day 🌞 by @yeboah4644
Your location is another stepping stone, not a limitation. Still learning about my color relationships. Space is not empty. It is made and remade through use, presence and change. It is activated, redefined, temporary and adaptive. Do it your way and do it anyways. by @yeboah4644
One of the ways i learn about my colours is through collage. It makes me to be more decisive and careful at the same time playful. Started using these old and rejected banners some years ago. I mostly collect them from printing shops, from the street and atimes print out some that are very interesting to me. I was drawn to this material because of how they contribute to the architectural design of my surroundings. And to me,it a representation of a space in my environment, a reflection of what is expected in a space. Using these materials to create these collage works by deconstructing and constructing it to form these interesting work inspired by these everyday structures, I intend to find out how color, form, text, could trigger and remind us the purpose of a space in the community. The act of playfulness is the ⛽️, overthinking☠️. by @yeboah4644
Having soo much fun at this an unusual space. Kind of adapting to the space and really love how am always active where I have found myself. These works remind me of watching my mum organise, arrange and match colors with the things she sells at the shop. To my earliest memories,my mum was the first artist that inspired me and the shop was the first space(canvas) to worked on. Just doing it my way and doing it anyways. Have fun,you have nothing to lose 🤩🥳 by @yeboah4644
Drawing has become the best and quickest way to express my self and still be active in my practice in this moment of my life. Not easy to work in an unusual space. These drawings capture so much essence of these structures,- simple, inviting and portable. Trying to have fun, freeing myself and see where these lead me. Doing it my way and doing it anyways. by @yeboah4644
Not your usual studio😃. For the past three years I found myself in some tight spaces - construction site and my mum's shop. This has made it difficult to work in my usual studio. For this reason i have tried enough to work more in my drawing books using different drawing tools. It all started with a simple questions - how can i display my work?,how do I want people to view my work?, which spaces triggered my work?. After some writings, nothing really changed or came out, then I started (going to town)😅. The town was bright, vibrant and energetic, every element seems to seek for an attention and acceptance, every space seems to entice and invite. But these structures, what i call ,"community survivor" stopped me for a second. They look quite, gave less attention, common and simple. This gave me the chance and the starting point to do something whiles am still in these tight spaces. This is soo much exciting and also a good way to continue working. Still learning about this spaces, forms, colour, display, titles and interiors. by @yeboah4644
