As of today, @sproutsocietyorg 's 2nd Annual Gala has raised 🌱OVER $400,000🌱and I am in awe seeing the number of donations continue!!!Last night, was my first time publicly speaking about my experience with mental health and why I want to help decrease the stigma on the providing and receiving side. For those who were unable to attend, here is a clip of my closing remarks from last night's speech:"I connected with The Efros’ family after that Sunday, and in memory of Russell J Efros, the Sprout Society was formed. From the perspective of a artist, the Sprout Society offers unlimited access to mental health resources tailored to the mind of a creative, that I wish I had during the indescribably darkest months of my life. From the perspective of a healthcare professional, the Sprout Society allows me to provide care for others without thinking about the pending hospital bill my patient isn’t yet aware of.From the perspective of myself as a whole, The Sprout Society is the bridge between my nursing and music careers and HAS WAS ALLOWED ME TO KEEP MY PACT with Russell; to better myself and to be in the community.Your donations will help water the Sprout’s Society’s initiative to support our community and END LONELINESS. People often say “You only live once”. However, with your contributions to the Sprout Society, instead of saying “you only live once”, WE can rephrase this for future generations and begin saying: “WE LIVE EVERY DAY" because your health, my health, and OUR HEALTH DOES MATTER. Before my 2020 plans were postponed, I was expecting to be with my bandmates playing shows in SLO and LA this week.... 😕Even though we are flattening the curve, pleasee continue to wear masks, practice social distancing, and stay home!! A month ago, my coworkers and I started building, creating, supplying, etc. a new field hospital for Covid-19 positive patients only. There was literally nothing at the beginning of April, but now we have an up and running hospital that is caring for Covid patients! We have the national guard as security checking us in and out every day 😦I originally was hired as a staff nurse, but last week I joined the education team and started creating protocols for staff while also teaching the new nurses how to properly go about RN duties.However, I transitioned to House Supervisor, in addition to being an Educator, which means I'm in charge of coordinating everything that happens with daily staff attendance, communicating with anyone outside of the "hot zone", arranging patients coming in and out of the facility, etc. Needless to say, I am exhausted from working 14 hour days, wearing a pile of PPE and drenched in sweat. I love my job but want to make sure everyone is aware that the battle with covid-19 is not over!! please think about all of the people caring for Covid positive patients and putting their family and themselves at risk. stay home and keep each other safe! by @yekeno
