Meet Vancouver’s most loyal World Cup fan.

For more than 50 years, she’s been known simply as Girl in a Wetsuit, quietly watching over Coal Harbour.

But lately she’s been trading the wetsuit for soccer jerseys, representing different countries as the World Cup takes over the city.

And honestly… for the first time in years, she feels a little less like a statue and a little more like a person.

So here’s the question:

Sometimes the best tours don’t need many words.

This is Ms. Gloria. She is 73 and came from Peru to visit her daughter in Seattle. Her dream during the trip was simple. She wanted to see Vancouver.

There was just one small challenge.

She doesn’t speak English and I don’t speak Spanish.

Her daughter trusted us with one thing. “Please take care of my mom for the day.”

So we did.

We spent four hours exploring Vancouver together. Gastown, Stanley Park, the waterfront and of course we had to try some Canadian poutine 🇨🇦.

By the end of the tour we still didn’t know many words, but it somehow felt like we had known each other for a long time.

Later her daughter sent me this message.

“My mom is fascinated by her trip. Thank you so much Lucio. You are a blessing.”

Moments like this are exactly why we do what we do at YellowCap.
