I’ve been looking for this video for SO long — my very first dancehall class, somewhere around 2020–2021.

And oh… I finally found it. 💀

I remember watching dancehall for the first time and thinking:
WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY DOING WITH THEIR BODIES?! 😂

The movement, the music, the attitude, the energy… I was obsessed.
I understood absolutely nothing, but I knew I wanted to try.

And then I actually did.

The choreography was definitely NOT beginner-friendly, the choreographers were 🔥, and me?

Well…

I looked like I had been dropped into the wrong class by accident. 🤣

Zero understanding.
Zero control.
Zero idea what was happening.
Just vibes and survival.

But somehow… I kept going.

And now I’m looking at that girl and thinking:

Bitch, I’m actually proud of you.

Because if I had waited until I was “good enough” to try something new, I would have never started.

And then there’s the latest dancehall video.

Almost 5 years later.

A little cleaner.
A little sharper.
A little more confident.
A little more attitude.
Way more understanding of what the fuck is happening. 😂

And yes…
I’m also objectively hotter now. Let’s be honest. 💅🏻

But the funniest part?

I can still see that first girl in me.

She didn’t know what she was doing.
She looked ridiculous.
She made mistakes.

And she still fucking tried.

So here’s your reminder:

You don’t have to look good when you start.
You just have to be brave enough to look stupid for a while.

Because sometimes “I look like complete shit” is just the first chapter of

The first semester with you is over. And honestly, I’m finding it a little hard to put everything I feel into words.

I came to this group as your teacher, but somewhere along the way, you became much more than just students to me.

I saw you doubt yourselves, feel shy, be afraid to make mistakes, and sometimes not know what to do. And then, little by little, I saw you let go. You started trying, experimenting, laughing at your mistakes, becoming braver and, most importantly, becoming more yourselves.

And that is what means the most to me.

Thank you for letting me be a part of this process. For every “I don’t know if I can do it” followed by you trying anyway. For your crazy ideas, your laughter, your chaos, your seriousness, your quiet moments, and all those moments when the whole room came alive.

I was learning with you too — how to explain better, how to listen, how to see each person individually. And maybe you don’t even realize how much I’m taking from this semester with me.

I’m proud of you. Not because you became “perfect” or learned to do everything right. But because you allowed yourselves to be in the process.

Thank you for being my first group this semester.
Thank you for the people you are and for the atmosphere we created together.

This was only the first semester.
But I’m already so curious to see where each of you goes next. 🤍

Some moments are not really about what we do, but about the people we share them with.
