Dancing along the pavilion

Having visited pier pavilion only one other time. I had the roughest idea in my head that it might look good shot on an ultra wide angle lens. Took a couple attempts but we eventually got a shot that lowkey made me go, holy shit. Not everyday you get to shoot with a ballerina.

Photos on the grass we shot out the front of Barangaroo House LOL. And the stairs are the ones leading up to Untied Rooftop Bar.

Every station a stage

Initially discussed doing a ballet shoot like 5 years ago, coming up again whenever she was visiting but every time, I just didn’t feel ready or confident enough to pull it off.

Doubled my total portraits shoots in the last year or so doing 1-2 shoots each month. Got a better understanding of lighting.
Of angles,
Of posing,
direction,
communication.

Oh and editing. I seldom edited portraits or people. Being so used to landscape/architecture the presets I made and used made people look like Oompa Loompas.

And this spot in Wynyard station, I have tried over and over, failing to achieve what I had envisioned.

The thing I was missing was light, and a wide enough lens. 16mm just never felt wide enough for me. So I picked up a 10mm from Laowa.
Over new year’s break we just sent it. Super thankful to @chandi.pb for helping hold the off camera flash. Saves so much setup time and allowed so much more flexibility.
