I used to be a Philadelphia Eagles season ticket holder. It was during the Donovan McNabb era, Veterans Stadium, yes, the one with the courtroom and jail in the catacombs. It was an exciting time, HOPE was back. However the Birds lost 3 out of 4 NFC championship games, and after the third one, I went to my folks house drunk and inconsolable after fucking Ronde Barber put us away with a late pick six that punched Tampa’s ticket to the Super Bowl.

ANYWAY, I’m standing in the living room crying and my dad’s like “Jesus Christ man, sit down for a minute. Let me ask you a question, do the eagles write your paychecks? HOW does it affect YOUR life if they win or lose? And also, I NEED you to hear this Matt, the Eagles will NEVER win a Super Bowl.” He was wrong about that and lived to see two championships, but he was right about everything else, as usual.

That game tonight was garbage, the Bears wanted it more, but i don’t care that the Eagles lost. This quarter moon is not directed at Case “Joe Montana” Keenum or the bears or even Andy Fucking Dalton, it was directed at a very dope, very funny girl I was hanging with who happens to be a fan of my half moon selfies. She laughed her amazing laugh, As did I, and I left after the game pretty jazzed. Priorities! by @yerboymatty

Old Sport left us one year ago today. Sometimes it feels longer, sometime shorter but I sure as hell miss him. A weird kind of sadness, new to me, but I spend most of the time focusing on the good memories, so many I can’t ever count them or tell them all. My first Pal.

I feel like I should say more but it’s just not coming together for me tonight. If y’all can do anything for me, raise a glass for my pops tonight. And if you had the honor of knowing him, I’d love to hear some stories about him, it makes me feel like he’s still close to me.

Last day of vacation, such a well needed reset and time spent with my extended family, showing my Philly people the Golden Isles was a blast. I’m so grateful to my cousins Val and Jeremy planning what I hope becomes an annual tradition. Shit, I hope we see each other more often than that.

We lost my dad almost a year ago, the next several months piled on more tragedy, the day in and day out of life became unmanageable. Getting out of bed, putting my feet on the ground, breathe in, breathe out, get the fuck going. Go.

One thing i certainly wasn’t doing was making my pilgrimages to Driftwood Beach. They made me feel lonelier than I already was.

I felt like this week was time, we set out early Wednesday morning, myself, Aunt Denise, and my right hand man cousin Jeremy. I’d never brought anyone else here, to do it now was more fulfilling than I imagined. The wonder of it, the laughs, secretly taking cool pictures of one another, and staging goofy ones. A natural high.

“I hope I’m back. I want to be back.” That’s what I was thinking in the final photo, deuces to the heavens, cheeks in the wind. Along with “good morning @lydi.yuh” and “you’re welcome, ladies”.

Labor Day weekend starts at Pour & Proper. Pull up tonight from 4–7 PM and kick off the long weekend with your boys Matty & Jacob.

The Pour Bar is open, the Pool Bar is now open, and the good times are lined up: 3 pool tables, 2 dart boards, and Golden Tee. We’ll have vinyl spinning on the Pour Side while happy-hour drink and food specials are in full effect.

Happy hour includes $6 wells, $1 off wine and domestic beer, and $1 off all appetizers. Bring the crew, grab a table, and help us make it a record day.

@mr._hiltonhead and the Man of the People!

Yeah, you’re lookin’ at a couple stubborn ol’ goats here, and at times we’ve butted heads like ‘em, but that’s what being BROTHERS is all about, right LB?😂

I was a little surprised when LB told me a couple months ago that he was joining the Navy, but to be honest I could sense his resolve, and anyone driven by purpose and service gets my support all day, every day.

What REALLY surprised me was when LB came into the bar last week and invited me to his farewell cookout, I’ve been begging for the call for about five years! Proud of this dude and wish him all the best, making big moves is scary but it’s sure as hell rewarding.

Yoooooo look who moved to the big city!

VERY proud of mom for taking a big, brave step and deciding to join a supportive community that will keep her engaged and improve her social life as well! Met some really nice residents and staff and even enjoyed a little Taco Tuesday as well, very excited for this new chapter in her life.

There are few experiences in life that give me a level of joy like a “Getting The Band Back Together” moment. Sometimes these take months of planning, others, like last night, the universe just drops one in your lap and your soul is better for it.

Five years ago the three of us were a lil side quest trio formed from our gang of friends, three months ago we were living in three different states and I couldn’t honestly say when I would get to kick it with these goons again.

I don’t think I’m alone in saying this is The Summer Of The Low-Key Existential Crisis, a “Groundhog Day” type of slog if you will. But last night, it felt like the Summer of 2021 again, even for a moment, and that’s pretty fuckin’ cool. I’m going, you’re going, we’re ALL going!

I haven’t said that one in a while, but it’s definitely time to bust it out again as I’m here to tell y’all about PURE ALOHA FEST this Saturday at @lincolnandsouth! The L&S gang have partnered up with the @alsalohakitchen ohana to throw the party of the year! Kalua style in-ground pig roast, sneak preview offerings from Al’s and the wildmen of @hhibachi_ will be doing their thing and probably chasing everyone around with their sake squirt bottles. LIVE surf rock from The Aloha Joes out of Tybee Island, we NEVER get surf rock around here, costume contest, musubi eating contest, local vendors and more!

PLUS the unveiling of a new seltzer collab, POG, featuring traditional island flavors!

Tickets are $30 but it’s money well spent to enjoy some of this wonderful food and drink and some dope Hawaiian culture while supporting SEVERAL local owned businesses! I’ve been doing events and parties with Al and Tori for years, plus they keep the big train rocking with poké, ginger shots, and superfood coffee for going on a decade. It is my honor to be a part of their crowning achievement, let’s make it a tradition shall we?!?
