“Alice Glass embraces the freedom of the great Freddy Mercury in ‘don’t be a rockstar, be a legend’ by Daniel Jackson for i-D, Pre-Spring 2015. Starring in the Music Issue, Alice celebrates the art of true independence. A woman who can see the hands of those who helped her, but isn’t willing to live in the past…”

“Even if only a handful of people want to come to my shows it’s better than living a lie playing stadiums.” Glass is a woman smart enough to know what she wants and strong enough to fight to for it.“

Pulp Magazine #aliceglass June 2013
“Alice Glass leads the crowd in a series of fierce female covers for Pulp Magazine’s #7 The Freedom Issue, Shot by Arkan Zakharov. Meghan Collison, Alice Glass, Thi Tuyet Lan and Aimee Mullins have all defied being defined by society and are out in the world writing their own set of rules. Far from the typical fashion fare these women deliver a diverse picture of modern beauty, having all overcome serious obstacles to pursue their dreams. In a season laced with Punk inspired imagery it only seems fitting that one of music’s strongest voices, Alice Glass from the Crystal Castles, would represent on the ‘Break Free’ cover stories. Provocative and powerful, she exemplifies everything the original movement stood for and illustrates the great divide that exists today between celebrity driven commercialism and authentically inspired creativity. A celebration of freedom, Pulp Magazine stands as a publication that openly preaches the sanctity of artistic integrity.“ by @yesandnobabyno

“How do I feel for thee
Your smile brings disease
Cuz we're young, fell in from the stars

When your skin is shed
Find a pile of your head
Now then i'll look so smart”

“Do you feel that Alice calling her departure "the end of the band" was premature?

Kath: I was told she was taking a year off and that I should have the majority of the songs ready by her return. After her year off, she tweeted that she was leaving. There was no discussion about it.

Alice has tweeted, "for the record, i wrote almost all of the lyrics in
my former band and the vast majority of the vocal melodies," which refutes what you had written. Do you have a response?

Kath: I was surprised by her statements because in that same i-d interview she
claims I was restricting her ability to express her own creative input, she couldn't be herself, and that she needed to leave to find her own voice. Two months later she tweets that it was her voice. It can't be both.”

“. I thought about starting a black metal band, or a punk rock band. But it just kept going back to electronica. I’m not sure what it is, but yeah.”

Edith Frances digital shots done by her modelling agency in LA back in 2014 November. She went by name Margo Frances.

She is such beautiful girl, she was pretty successful as a model and achieved a lot. It takes a lot of work to create a career. And she put in the work.

On last shot there is a pretty recent comment from Edith, reminiscining the old days and being grateful , which us such nice thing to see.

I'm wasting my days as I've wasted my nights and I've wasted my youth
You're waiting for something
You've waited in vain because there's nothing for you…🥀

#aliceglass singing with her lower voice remix of Suffocation song by #crystalcastles on her Blood Oath Tour. So good, I really love it. I think she is really comfortable singing in this tone🫧 by @yesandnobabyno

The last six years have been a period of self-care and self-reflection for Alice. “It’s been intense,” she reflects. “When I started in that band, I left high school. It was like going from not having your frontal lobe developed to being an adult and being in a fucked up situation where you have to start from scratch. I’m lucky that I can pay for a psychiatrist. I’ve been doing a lot of self-help work. I’ve been medicated.”

“Of her decision to share her experiences so openly in her music, Glass says, “If I could take a pill and erase all my memories, I would. I didn’t think I would be here – I thought I’d be dead for sure. I was very suicidal as a teenager and young person… There’s so much suffering in the world, and I bring [up my difficult experiences] now because, in a weird way, every time I open up about this, somebody writes me or sends a really nice message where they can relate to what I’m saying.

“It’s been really helpful for me psychologically to put things out. That’s what this record is like for me: I’m going to put my pain out into the world and then I don’t own it any more.”

After living in Los Angeles for a decade, Alice Glass moved out to Palm Springs, just over 100 miles away, around a year-and-a-half ago. She now lives there within a curious patchwork of scorched sand and the well-watered emerald lawns of its “golf courses and cemeteries”. “
