Gold hills roll around this town

Like swells swallowing a ship at sea

Waves turned earthen

Grass sprouted from them

Red brick rows

Planted firm in the low

Young lives rising up from the square

Trying to make sense

Of this pulling tide

In my fatherhood mind

I want to throw out a lifeline

Pull her quick and safe back home

But she's not drowning

She's just learning to swim by @yesfront

It's the subtle shift in seasons that I find to be the best. Not necessarily the full blast of summer, or the soft snow in winter. But the first leaf that falls yellowed and the first bulb that shoots through the soil.
Ellis and I went on a drive. We ended up at Baker Lake, sang our hearts out on the way, saw a bear (!) and ate our lunch on the shore.
Next week she'll start Middle School.
I'm just trying to fully enjoy this subtle shift of season. by @yesfront

Tears dry by the mile

Out running

The silence doubles by the time

The shadows are stretching

Rolling across the shorn wheat hill

And laying out longer on the flat land horizon

Out running the wildfire air

And clouds not clearing behind my eyes

Still a chance of rain

A few drops on the windshield haze

And one salty drop from my red eye gaze by @yesfront

Happy anniversary to the love of my life!
A few grey hairs coming through my sideburns
And just like that we're grandparents.
Our love for each other goes on, and the little ones will grow along. All because you said "I Do" 24 years ago.
I love you honey! by @yesfront

Seven years, and I honestly don't miss it.
Most of the time.
Enough time to rewire my mind. It doesn't fit my life any longer.
The mind spinning and spiraling, behind fogged-up, glossy eyes.
Feeling empty when all you're trying to do is fill a hole with something. But it drains right through you, taking the best of you, and leaves you hunger pain'd and more hollowed out than when it first touched your lips.
Now life flows through my veins, and I'm full. Full enough to give of myself to others again.
There's plenty to go around, ever since I stopped trying to numb my mind with a match and kerosene.
A word to those who feel too much:
You're alive.
Drinking to soften the lows and sand off the sharp edges of the highs will work;
until it doesn't.
The lows only grow lower. The highs never feel any higher.
Peace isn't the absence of feeling, though that can sound appealing.
Peace is feeling *all* of life without letting it destroy you. by @yesfront

Her sister graduated and mom is out chaperoning at the all night graduation party. That definitely called for a late night Safeway run for ice cream on the front porch swing. by @yesfront
