This year is the 60th anniversary of
“Star Trek”.
Ran into George Takei in the streets of NYC where I lived about 9 years ago- and was able to thank him for portraying the helmsman of the USS Enterprise as Hikaru Sulu. Also thanked him for his contributions as an Asian American actor. Forgive the expression on my face- was completely in awe.
“Star Trek” defined much of my childhood, and having no access to cable- I would find myself on channel 9 watching “Next Generation” all the way up to “Enterprise”.
In the following slides:
George Takei as Hikaru Sulu in “Star Trek: The Original Series”.
Eugene Wang as Harry Kim in “Star Trek: Voyager”.
John Cho as Kelvin Timeline Hikaru Sulu in the “Star Trek” reboot films.
To this day, I still deeply love this franchise.
All these years later, now living on the west coast- making my mark as an Asian American Writer, Director, Actor. This is why we need representation.

Have not practiced driving in a while-been far too busy.
Had my friend @sebass_27 help me today by borrowing his car- who took this video on his phone. Thank you sir.
Still more to do before taking the exam. Felt ready today, but better safe than sorry. Getting there!
As a kid from NYC who has only driven six hours in total - I’m proud.

My brother @nigeljsu visiting from London after moving there for over two years training more in depth as an actor within theatre/film/television- and now booking COUNTLESS roles. So damn proud of this thespian!
Much needed discussions about our passion, and catching up after all this time.
Could only stay a couple days, but it was great to see him for a bit today.
One of the best actors I know, and truly one of my best friends.
The future is looking so bright for us.
See you down the road again soon!

When I lived in NYC- I surrounded myself with folks that spoke about creativity, but made me constantly doubt my potential. How can roots grow with a mere whisper of sustenance?
Zero credits. In my view during those times, IMDb was merely an exhibition seen behind a thick pane of glass.
While I will always love NYC and regard it as my first home, moving out to LA brought me together with other beautiful creatives. This is where I need to be.
Recently I updated my IMDB after quite a while and was shocked.
Now I have…holy cow, 21 credits to my name. Most of these being productions that I forged alongside other amazing talents.
Yes, quality will always triumph over quantity. But for me- you can wield both.
Please do not doubt yourselves. Be friends with those who uplift one another not blindly- but holding sincerity and motivation. Work hard, but not alone. Be thankful. That is how a bountiful harvest is truly produced.
This is merely the beginning. More updates to come…

Shoutout to everyone that sent me the announcement for “The Magic School Bus” series being turned into a live action feature film starring Elizabeth Banks!
Incredibly excited to see this iconic series coming to the big screen, and also giving a shoutout to the amazing cast and crew who brought our award winning “Class of 97” to life with @dfwellison portraying our Ms. Frizzle. Class of 97 focused on most of the alumni coming back together to help their former teacher move while she battles Alzheimer’s.
You know what else is INSANE?
Legendary Pictures is producing this alongside Scholastic…
Our DP @talldarknotugly was wearing a Legendary Pictures shirt while shooting our short four years ago.
Of all studios bringing this to life.
Cannot wait to see the film!

Happy Father’s Day to the man who helped raise who I am today.
We may not have seen eye to eye on numerous occasions, but you still helped to instill a sense of fun within me.
One such memory is that when mom flew off to Korea to visit family (also sorry mom for choosing this picture I was probably stressing you out by crying so much) you watched the entire Halloween franchise with me and my brothers. You laughed and got terrified with us as Michael Myers chased his plethora of victims. You helped introduce us to other films beyond the realm of PG-13 as well.
Thank you for being my father.
Thank you for enriching the dream within me today.
Though we are thousands of miles away from one another, the distance does not ever dissipate your love.
I hope I am making you proud.
